Side steps / sliders - best of breed

Hi all,

Looking to buy aftermarket side steps / sliders (2023 GX), so very interested in all your views and experiences on items that are:

• well made from strong materials that can take a bit of punishment
• solid fixing to chassis
• value for money - a judgement call I know, but I don't want to pay $1800 for a pair where a $800 pair are pretty much as good
• ADR compliant
• useable/comfortable when standing on for a while, e.g. whilst accessing the roof
• extensible to brush-bars (nice to have, not must have)

Brands of interest so far include:
MCC, Rockarmor, Ironman, TJM, ARB, OffroadAnimal

I installed MCCs on my 2018 GXL.
MCC units where more like double tube rocksliders (thus a little heavier) than sidesteps. The available TLM and ARB units where more like single tube sidesteps.

The rear LHS mounting bracket in the MCC kit I got was useless - it rubbed against the fuel tank. However, called MCC and they came good with a better bracket.

What you buy depends on where you are going to drive. If you are going to drive over boulders, like me. I got kit to protect my door sills, as when driving over boulders, they tend to roll along the line of the doors.

The rockarmor sit behind the lip that hold onto the front mudguard, so it seems unprotected.
those mcc ones look good, on closer look so do they but they seem to be tucked up higher.
lack of multiple photos of the Ironman concern me.
