Has any body removed the master cylinder on thr prado 150? I have a leaking shaft seal,dripping on floor mat. Is it a big job. I was thinking I could save some labour then take the master cylinder to brake specialist for repairs.

Never done it but got quoted 1800 for the part only master cylinder.

Yes, did it recently. I purchased one from a wreckers, paid about $750 for complete unit. Make sure you get the right part number if you go down this path as there are at least three or four different part numbers for the 150. Its written on the side of the unit.

Re changing it out, its a simple job and all up took me just over an hour and had never done it before. The bleed process is just like normal - you DONT need any special ABS modulating tool to get the air out of the ABS unit, just have the car running while bleeding.

Toyota has quoted me $1913 Plus fitting & brakefluid. Thanks for the input. Thinking of going for new one.(Family Safety First)
