Hi guys,
I've just started getting this whirring noise when in 6th gear - it almost sounds like a turbo spooling up or supercharger noise. The pitch of the noise gets higher as I go faster.
It's only in 6th gear and only when I'm accelerating. There's no noise when I'm coasting in 6th or in neutral. All other gears sound fine.
I did get a 2" lift 2 weeks ago so I'm wondering if something's happened there or is 6th gear and the gearbox shot?
It's a GX Manual Turbo diesel, it's done just over 200k, I picked it up in July and took it to my mechanic for a major service straight away to flush out any old oils and give it a once over. It has been solid up until this.
