  • Automatic transmission service

What is the recommended schedule for Automatic transmission service? For a normal car, I typically based it on every 2 years (depending on km travelled, type of conditions etc etc). I am especially interested in opinions from those with a lease >2years. Do you specifically ask for it do be done?

The reason I ask, is that a maintenance guy from another brand of vehicle, indicated that leased vehicles never had the transmission checked (unless specifically asked).

I wonder if this is the norm?

    Re: Automatic transmission service

I haven't checked the Toyota schedule for the 150 Series but I read a post under "Drive Train (120 Series)" and the recommendation there was no more than 50,000km. This sounds reasonable to me, I wouldn't be surprised if Toyota claim 100,000km. I reckon a lot has to do with the driving conditions and the temperature of the ATF. Based on what I have read the harder you work the box with higher temp ATO the more often you would need to change it.

According to service manual for 150 (UK) - 'Transfer Oil' - 4 years/40,000 miles - whichever comes first - obviously...
