      Vehicle customisation

In the 2014 Prado VX the chime (for locking/unlocking door) can be either disabled/enabled, or its loudness adjusted, in the Vehicle Customisation section of the multimedia system.

Hi, just reading with interest, I have a 2013 Altitude Prado, and the beeping is also driving me nuts. I cant however find a way into the vehicle customisation option within the multimedia. Can someone tell me how to access this? When I go to setup, vehicle, there is no option. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

The dealer can do it for the GXL - I had it turned off at the first service. Unfortunately they wouldn't turn off the door open chime...

DING....DING...ding....ding...gone! Whole job took less than 10 min. Thanks for the great info and photos. The self tapper was quicker than installing and plugging in the Techstream and it works for doors - not just the seat belt.

Hi all, just reviving this thread. Does anyone have the images? I can only see the small thumbnails and they're too blurry.

The best idea I've had on the chime is to disable it when the Accessories is on and the Ignition is off. That way, the beeper still operates as a safety warning device if the door should be opened while the engine is running - it might be just a little bit annoying on rare occasions. It also allows the vehicle security function to work correctly if the driver's door is opened by someone breaking in.

Wire in a diode and a small low-current 12v relay from Jaycar or Altronics (the type with a single changover contact "SPDT"), so that the relay operates and disconnects the door switch wire when just the Accessories is 'on'.
