  • Electric brake on/off with ignition

I think that I may have missed something, I've connected up my electric brake controller to the battery as described in numerous threads in these forums. This means that the controller stays on unless it is manually switched off. Is there a way to link it to the ignition on/off?.

Apologies if this has been previously answered but my searches didn't turn up anything.

Re: Electric brake on/off with ignition

      Hi,

The electric brakes when wired correctly are always active.
They will only draw power though when the brake pedal is depressed,
ie your brake lights are on.

This is for safety ie, so that they will work if the car is moved without
turning on the motor. Same as your car brakes, the vacuum servo has enough
reserve left in it so that your brakes will work a couple of times without the engine
      running.

      Cheers
