  • It may be normal for that isolator, but heat is wasted energy, need I say more?

    • I bought a dual battery voltage monitor that fits in a standard switch blank in the Prado 150. It was from Solid Kit from memory. Got it on advice from here, do a search and should come up.

            • If using a VSR, I would go with Traxide or Redarc, the Traxide unit has some niffty features
and he can supply them as a general purpose kit.

Battery trays, not a fan of Piranha but they do make a good battery tray, there is also a
guy on Ebay that makes them here and they look good also but can't remember the name
              of the seller off hand.

              Cheers

ARB make a kit but you should know it is not a complete kit if you are looking at that one. It doesn't have wiring/plugs etc for the rear, only the tray, redarc isolator and the pos wiring to link the batteries via the isolator and aux earth. The rest is not included in the kit!

                    • Lippa, you are just up the road from me, happy to lend you the specialist crimping tools for a DIY. Much cheaper to get quality cable from somewhere like Springers and the connectors and go from there. I have bought two things from ABR for my 150 and both are now in the bin. The manual reset circuit breaker and the TPMS... Maybe a bad luck story but who knows. I like Piranha trays ( not much else).

                      • All my ABR stuff including isolators, manual reset circuit breakers etc. are going strong after 4 years. It is easier if you can cut and crimp cables to length although all mine fitted perfectly.

Never understood why battery trays, a bit of pressed metal, cost so much.

The dies to stamp them out would cost big $$$, and that cost would be spread over a relatively small number of sales.

I take a bit of offence at that.

I ordered my Traxide kit and paid for on Nov 9th. Well before Xmas rush. Was told 2-3 week lead time. Allow 3 weeks at max. That would've been end of November.

It's now been over 5 weeks and still nothing. No replies to emails, phone not being answered.

This is my 3rd Traxide kit, as I've always been really happy with the quality. However the service this time has been woeful.

I understand this is a busy period. Thus why I ordered start of November, and when I was told a 2-3 week lead time due to the busy period, I was okay.

Now it's 5-6 weeks and I leave this week for a trip and don't have a dual battery kit which I ordered in plenty of time to have received at this time of the year.

Now I wish I had ordered the Sidewinder kit. Might not have been as good, but still better than nothing at all.

Maybe Tim might see this post and reply since he's on here but can't seem to reply to emails or answer the phone.

                            • Wasn't having a go at you Brougham personnely, just fact, as Christmas approaches there is always
a rush as people suddenly decided they either need a dual battery system or to upgrade their existing
unit before going away for holidays, same thing happens from the trade side, we suddenly remember
we need to order parts in before the holiday shut down only to find the suppliers have run out.

Tim usually is pretty responsive, he was about to bring a new model out a few weeks back so
maybe has been holding back on sending orders till they are up and running.

If he still has the old model he maybe be able to send you one of those if you can't put it off
any longer, persist with the phone calls he must be there.

                              • It's too late now. I'm in Perth and he's in QLD. Won't get it in time even if express posted today.

The lack of contact is disappointing the most. Now I have to try to wire up a temp line to run the fridge & camper, at more costs to me.
