  • Retrofit rear fog lights

hi... this is my new post here.
i'm might be the one with unique prado here.

so, i have a 2011 prado 150 TX (japanese version)
and wanted to install a rear foglights with the switch.
am planning to make a hole on the reflector on the bottom of the rear bumper and put a bulb, rather than buy a foglights housing.

has anyone install a rear foglights on their 150 prado? was it as easy as connect the bulb to the harness and connect the switch to harness behind the dash?

also i have 2 question about confirming the right harness.

first, i found a empty harness connector next to the connector from pdc to frame harness.

(the one with the label is the pdc harness)
is this the one the foglights should be connected to?

second, which connector behind the dash should be connected to the switch?
and what is the part number of the switch as i couldnt find it on toyodiy.

    thank you...

I think its been covered but here is a suggestion...

    Unclip the foglight assembly. ..2minutes
Take it into a auto shop to see which light suits the lugs.
Talk to a smart person and circuit test the loom plug that just sits there...
More than likely the loom will be active and positive when your parklights are on...if this is so then dremel cut the blanking plug off and seal and install and test the light....if all goes well then you have a second rear park light assembly.

Does this sound around about right forum users?

Silly question guys, but how do you unclip the fog light blank without taking the entire rear bar off? Thanks.

thanks for the suggestion baggs71 but it seems they dont have a connection beetwen the parking light and the rear fog light harness.
tested it on a regular bulb and the light doesnt come..

and i already confirmed that the connector behind the dash is for the rear foglight switch. i tried to plug a fuse on the powerbox and there's a power on the plugs. this is the plug

@pinoyredblack u have to reach from bellow. there's a plenty of room for your hand to reach.

Ok.....dont connect rear "foglights" as they are mostly illegal...
Rather.....get a normal parklight globe or rear brake like gobe... (which ever fits) and get a sparky to install a short loom from your brake cluster to the rear bumper.....
            Should take under an hour....

Does this sound like what you want?

@baggs71 mostly illegal but not in my country. im living in indonesia where we likely had a heavy windy rain witch shorten the range of view. plus there are many stupid motorcycles who likes to hit the back of the car here and blame the car. so im really willing to add foglights which i can turn it on while on heavy rain for a signal for the driver/ rider behind me. and i can turn it off on normal weather because it's so bright and dangerous to person behind. thanks anyway for the suggestion.

by the way, i like the prado tailgate in oz. they have the spare tire carrier on it. mine's is under the floor.
