  • Second Battery Opinions - NOT a dual battery setup question...

What battery do people recommend for the second battery in a petrol? I was going to go with the Optima Yellow Top but I'm starting to hear bad things with them lately (ie not lasting very long etc). I'm looking for a decent battery to run the fridge etc but with the same size and post as my main battery, as when the standard Panasonic one dies I'll swap it over.

Didn't find any thing in the search function, all posts come up with dual battery setups so I'm asking here.

    Cheers

Optima yellow tops other than the D31A have a three year replacement warranty (two for D31A)
I would buy the Optima, if it fails claim under warranty.

All batteries can fail, I have a couple of different makes fail after a few months, just luck
    of the draw these days.

    Cheers

Thanks for that, do you know the version that suits a 150 petrol? The Optima website expects you to know already.

      Anyone suggest alternatives?

I have a D27 in the passengers side of my 120, assuming you have the same space
where you aux is you could use the same of opposite terminal type, that's if cracks
        aren't a worry.

This has been discussed a lot in the dual battery threads. There are lots of opinions on what is best and Optima vs everything else. A quick search result for Optima:

Thanks for the links, but my question is regarding petrol models and I'm after ideas for a battery I can also use as a replacement for my main when it dies. I believe the diesels can fit a bigger battery in the aux position.

I've searched a bit before I posted the question but most posts are about whole setups, not just battery.
