Katrx do you have a Redarc BCDC? The battery type light will flash whether the unit is charging or not.

            katrx7,

Did you have a booster diode fitted?

Was the Projecta a relay or diode type?

hi all ok so the problem has been solved !!!! the battery was overcharging causing it to boil. katrx7 my advice to you is set your bcdc to the gel mode it cuts down the boost a little bit but saves your battery. in this stage it charges really quick !!! i flattened the battery over night and the next day i drove for an hour and it was fully charged !!! i have posted some pics of the bracket i made for mine Click image for larger version

Hi mole man and good to hear you got it all sorted out.

BTW, if you had “flattened” the battery ( down to 20% SoC ) it would take your DC/DC device a little over two hours to fully charge it.

Hi again mole man and have you had a chance to test your battery charge times again?

As above, your battery should have taken much longer than an hour to fully recharge and if it is taking just one hour to fully charge it from a low state, I suspect your battery is faulty.

hi drivesafe, yeah i ran the new battery down to pretty much flat and it took about 2.5 hours to charge to full with the fridge running in the back.. it has worked really well since i got the battery changed over

                        Hi,
I have a very similiar set up to yours. But I have the BCDC1220 instead and a MarinePro 650. Ive set my charger to the softest charging profile 'AGM/Gel' and its been fine for 4 months. I have a projecta led volt meter in the dash and the highest voltage I've observed it 14.5 volts (confirmed by multimeter too), which even seems high. But I kept checking the electrolyte levels and all seems fine. Even though the battery is fully charged by my Projecta Intelli-Charge 240v charger, the redarc insists on charging it at 14.4-14.5 volts for a few hours afterwards. I dont think the redarcs are as sensitive as the 240v smart chargers.

Hi all, I'm looking at the BCDC 1225 from Redarc and a Bosch AGM battery. I notice a lot of you are using the Century marine Pro, is there a specific reason for this or is it due to ARB selling them? I am planning to run my ARB fridge and a light from it, in past cars I have had a portable Thumper battery for this. Any problems with my choice of Battery?? thanks

Which wire or where to connect it on the car? The trigger wire is the blue one. Go to Redarc's site there are PDF files there for numerous diagrams and installation manuals. Do you have a 90, 120 or 150 and where is the BCDC? Under the bonnet there are a number of options including a feed to the windscreen wiper motor. In the car you can use any of the power sockets inside the car since it is only a trigger wire. I have my BCDC in the back and used the 'spare' wire that is used for the 12V socket in the GX which is redundant in the GXL and up.

If you are running the BCDC in the camper and have an SBi12 or similar under the bonnet next to the main battery you can simply join the blue trigger wire to the incoming feed from the SBi12 since it trips when the voltage drops below 12.7V.

Thanks Mmjrandom its a 2014 150 gxl prado was going to mount just rear of bullbar . Also have the relay kit for solar . Using the bcdc 1240-lv Talking about the "Blue source connect wire " Directions say wire must be connected to vehicle ignition but will as you say any of these other inputs be ok? I understand there is a difference with the alternator compared to earlyer models. Thanks again for your help i am sure others will benefit as well
