  • Cranking Battery Selection

Now I know my original battery is shot, I'm out for a new one. (2.5 years - not all that happy)
Any recommendations for a new starter Battery, I have a D34/78 as my 2nd battery.
I am leaning towards Optima again but would like some opinions & possible recommendations
on starter batteries for the D4D

            Going for an OPTIMA D27F.
Just looking for the best price in Brissy at the moment.
If I cannot find a decent price I will just wait longer & get it online.
best is $400 at the moment.

                  Nice set up!
I note the Arb tray, many ppl use these? I assume its a help against guard cracking as it sits mounted up the side.
What's your experience so far so good?
                  What size is the blue?
Nice neat job, you must have done it yourself?

                    Good morning all,

The cranking battery in the Prado just died prior to being stored, so I would like some info on fitting the D34 or D27F yellow top to the car:

                    1. Does the D27F fit in the battery tray without modification of the tray?

                    2. Are they a direct fit with the leads to the terminals?

Any assistance is greatly appreciated as I need to pick up the car this Friday.

                    Cheers.

I am running a D27F main battery and a D34M as the secondary and it all works well. However I am also sporting cracked guards and the extra weight of the batteries is most likely a contributing factor. I have an ARB tray under the second battery.

The D27F fits in without modifications in the 150, The D34M (blue top) has the terminals set deeper into the middle of the battery and the standard toyota positive terminal lead which bends at 90 degrees needs lengthening to be used on this type of battery.
