Feedback on NS70M Century Battery as Aux ??

Sorry PPr's, there's no doubt a number of threads on this, but I'm after some snappy feedback...

I've just installed a Pirahna tray on my 150 Petrol (270mm x 170mm) to take a second battery...In the interests of getting off and running and with limited budget, I'm considering the Century NS70M as my second battery (Engel 60l, awning led light, couple of usb ports in rear and to Anderson plug at rear)...An Optima or more exy battery could come later down the track...

Just quickly, I'd appreciate feedback from anyone using this battery as there Aux...

Ive also just installed a Pirahna tray on my 150, (but it's a diesel), and a Century deep cycle battery, but the N70T (not NS70T) fits into my tray. Its nearly 40mm wider than the NS70T and has a rating of 100ah over the NS70T I recall was around 75ah? I can only assume you chose this battery as the petrol has a smaller tray ??

This was only installed over the last weekend and I havent yet received the isolator/charger (BCDC1220) so it's to yet running in the new prado, but it will be the same config as my old Mitz Paj, I use it to power my engel, ham radio gear and as aux power for my caravan. Mainly the van fridge whilst towing and DC lights when free camping.

Ive used Century deep cycle batteries for many years and whilst I cant give you a comparison to other brands, I can say they have never faulted me! I have decided with this vehicle to run a DCDC charger rather than an isolator/solenoid.

I considered the optima and other technologies like AGM, but I couldnt justify the extra cost when I've had had good experiences with the Century.

... sounds like a sales pitch eh ... but honestly I havent had a bad experience!

The NS70M is a marine construction battery so his has the platelock technology built into it , it is partial deep cycle where as the N70T is a pure deep cycle and not as good for starting, so it depends on the use

The only reason I'm considering the marine version is I've heard the platelocks provide a bit more protection against offroad/corrugations, etc...I may be off the mark though

I would agree with Coleman re the plate lock. From my research, they are a more suitable battery that suits corrugated conditions (maybe not needed if you stick to better groomed tracks etc also I think they are australian made). I have a 150 and will be purchasing the 75AH..

I have had the marine one and it last two years and coped quite a bit of outback touring. It worked well for me. The idea of the plate lock for the marine use is what sold me.
