  • inverter conversion to anderson plug

Just wondering if anyone has taken the rear inverter out and replace with an anderson plug. I have an ark power box that i want to charge as a removable power source.thanks

The vast majority run new much larger cable (6 B&S typically) to minimise voltage drop. I use my inverter rarely but leave it where it is. I have an auxiliary battery in the back with a number of outlets.

Convert to Anderson Power poles maybe but I think the wire to the inverter is too thin for the usual 50A Anderson plug.

Thanks for the info. Trying to do a portable dual battery set up without too much wiring.

You mean you want to connect the Ark pak to the starter battery via the inverter's wiring?

the wiring to the inverter is so ridiculously thin it can't be used for anything else.

Couple of things to consider. For $200 - 250 and a few hours you can fit an isolator like an SBi12 or equivalent and run some heavier cable to the back and install an Anderson plug. Obviously this assumes you have access to the appropriate tools and have the skills required.

In the back panel where the inverter is located there is also a 12V connector that I believe the GX uses for a 12V socket as opposed to the inverter that is fitted to the GXL and above. I have tapped into that wiring to trigger my BCDC1225. Having seen the size of the wires I wouldn't run 10A from it or the inverter full time. The wiring is as maulbeagle said ridiculously thin.

The 150 GX has an inverter fitted as per the GXL etc. there is also no DC socket in the cargo area.

Thanks for the info. I am going to go with an ark powerbox with inbuilt charger.

How do you plan to charge it up in the Prado?
