  • 2018 GXL Headlights

    I have been told that my gxl has self leveling headlights, does anyone know how to adjust them down? After my lift they are too high.

      Isn’t there a wheel type thing near your right knee that moves the lights up and down? There is on my 2017, I thought it was for when you are towing, rear being lower allows you to lower the lights a bit. Think it has 5 spots/levels you scroll through. It definitely moves the headlights up and down. I would go and check but it’s in the shop getting some glasshouse mountains damage fixed.
      Although, that would be manual leveling, might be different on the 2018 with led headlights, self leveling kind of indicates they do it themselves.

          I have just had my 2018 GXL lifted and first time out at night I got pulled over by the Police for having badly adjusted lights. Do you have anything a little more precise about the "rear arms" as I don't understand what you are referring to. I presume both sides need to be adjusted independently.

            I’ve noticed an increase in people flashing their high beam at me at night since I’ve had my 2018 VX. Anyone else experiencing this?

            Did the Police tell you to do something about the lights?

              He told me to get them adjusted or he would defect the vehicle. I had people flashing before the lift but it is definitely worse now.

                  Also noticed and had people flashing to indicate “beams” when in fact they aren’t on with my 18 GXL

                    Well I located two adjusters which can be turned using a 8mm socket. Didn’t know which one to turn so I tried both. It was trial and error but got both sides adjusted down. Unfortunately the left light now dips further than the right when the lights are first turned on. I’m not sure which adjuster corrects this but at least they both settle at the same height and no more flashing from other drivers. I need to fiddle to see if I can get them to move the same again.

                        I went to the local dealer to get some information but they didn’ t want to give me any. I stood my ground until they finally gave me a diagram which shows the inside adjuster closest to the radiator is the vertical adjustment whereas the outer one is the horizontal adjustment. However they gave me no instructions on which way to turn them so it is still trial and error.

                          How'd you go sleeky?
                          I just got my lift done and I can tell just by the angle of the lights when I drove into the garage, that they are way too high now!
                          I'm almost frightened to take it out tonight as I know i'll be blinding people.

                          Did you manage to note what 'down' was? Clockwise, Anti-clockwise?
                          How many turns did you have to do?

                            Problem solved. As a coincidence, I had a scheduled service booked in 2 days after my life.
                            Asked the guys to adjust them down a bit for me, which they did at no cost - I was kind of surprised.
                            Job done.

                              For those that don't want to play with the rear arm adjuster at the back of the vehicle. Pop the bonnet and if you have the plastic radiator cover still on there are holes in that to put a long philips head screwdriver down the back of the light. It tells you which one is the up/down and left/right adjustment and which way to turn for each. The one on the outside of the light, closest to the guard is the up/down adjuster. If you're using the screwdriver turn it counter clockwise to go down.
