  • Dead alternator

Just a short post. Confirmed my alternator is dead, so I am looking for a new one. Does anyone have recommendations? What I have read is Denso is the way to go but having trouble finding someone who sells them in Brisbane.

Toyota rebuilt unit, have you checked the fuse that powers the alternator and the ALT-S and the main alt output fuse?

Not wishing to hijack but may be relevant. To those who travel a lot on wet dirt roads, take a look into the front of the lhs wheel well. You will be staring straight into the workings of your alternator, sitting there ready to suck up the mud! Simply silicone a small piece of soft rubber like bicycle tube to fill in the gap near and around the upper control arm. Works a treat keeping the front of the engine bay clean and may save your alternator.

I have had two fail over the last few years in 2 150 prados. Each time it was the clutch in the drive pulley that let go. Last time was while in the NT and I got an OEX 130amp replacement from repco for $350 member price.
