Sorry, I cannot reveal the final cost payed but I think you should expect to pay somewhere between $399 to $500 inclusive for supply only. Do you know anyone at Toyota?

    Hi Archangel,

Any chance you could give us the order\part number for this kit and is there a visual aid like the rear, do the front sensors also flash on the little picture on the dash where the rears ones do or are the fronts only audible with the speaker?

      Archangel,

Many thanks for the details, I am glad it is possible. I don't know anyone in Toyota, but I am sure I can manage to find someone that will help me out, hopefully!!!

          Re: Front Sensors/Parkassist

Hi guys, I had the front park assist installed by the dealer and unfortunately it does not activate the flashing lights on the reverse park display, just an audible tone. I was disappointed, but it is a limitation of the add on front park assist.

            Gavin,

The order number for the glacier white version is PZQ98-6001040 (last three digits '040' - being Glacier White). I still haven't installed them but as Steve correctly mentions yes there seems to be the limitation of not flashing on the reverse park display on the dash having read through the park assist owners manual. There seems just to be the audible alarm. I need to get on with the PA install as my combination bullbar is coming Oct18.

Surely there's a way to hook up to the flashing display...you've sent me on a new mission now Steve!

If you are just after the standard grey PA version then the code is PZQ98-6002UP1 for a chrome bullbar.

              Hey Archangel,

If you do find a way please let us know, as the manual says with an 8 sensor system the lights do flash!!! What a rip if they market the add on system if there is an alternative that works the way we expect on a 65k+ motor!!!

                Re: Front Sensors/Parkassist

Sorry to dissapoint but they woun't work with the standard GXL parking sensor screen. If you get a torch and shine it into the little picture screen you can see where the LED lights are around the back of the car but none on the front. In the VX, the sensor screen is shown in a different spot I think??? Same spot as the Kakadu??? VX owner confirm????

                  Re: Front Sensors/Parkassist

                  All,

As per my previous post (Sat Sept 18) I managed to source the colour coded sensors for the Prado 150 GXL. For those considering getting some of these sensors they will only fit a bumper bar, will only make a sound and not hook into a visual display. These Toyota genuine 'after market' sensors do not match the ones that come standard with the VX or Kakadu and they look completely different from the rear sensors that come standard on a GXL, VX and Kakadu. They have a very small flange section for the front 'flat' face and my bullbar supplier seemed to think that this might be an issue if installing in their bullbar.

Since then I returned them and swapped them over for the bullbar version which are black only (knowing these needed to be colour coated). They come with a big fat black additional bezel fitting (appx 25mm). I got home, opened the box, re-considered, returned them and got my money back...because these would've stuck out like dogs b#*lls on the new bar.

Why can't Toyota just supply the same sensors that have features and visual (in-dash) display funtionality that come with the VX/Kakadu? For those considering aftermarket genuine Toyota front parking sensors for a non Toyota bullbar don't bother!

                  Regards

                    Re: Front Sensors/Parkassist

Would the sensors from the rear work in the front and hook up to the visual display, surely the connections would be the same? I notice on my GXL there are small looms behind the bumper I assume waiting to receive the sensors. I am wondering if you can just source the rear ones as spare parts and wire them in. I might have to see if I can temporarily take one off the rear and try it as a test...unless some else feels game

                      Re: Front Sensors/Parkassist

Me and my boss bought 2 of this Prado, I got the L4 UK spec and he got the L5 UK spec, apparently the L5 come with the front and rear sensor with factory installed, I got my hook up with after market. The instruction show it can actually install for front or rear by flipping the switch in the ECU. I have installed the total of 6 sensors for maximum coverage, 2 corner sensor with flat without angle, and 4 sensor with angle to correct the bumper tilt.

                      6 Sensors

                      Corner sensor without angle

                      Angled correction sensor

Appologies for digging up an old thread, but after parking in the garage a few times i am now thinking about front parking sensors. Just wondering what the general consensus is on the "genuine" front sensors for a gxl, are they worth the effort/expense?

I can live without the visual display, but would like to know if the other visible bits for a current kit (i.e the sensors and switch) match the factory fitted bits for the rear system. Does installing the front sensors in a bar affect the operation in any way?

I am about to purchase an ARB bar and need to decide if i want the one with the sensor holes or not...

                          Front Parking Sensors

Are there any differences in the quality/performance between OEM front parking sensors from Toyota and the kits you can buy from 3rd party suppliers (like EBay...). Cost is a bit of a concern although I don't mind paying extra if the quality/features merit it. My dealer wants $270NZ (plus fitting) for the (Toyota?) front 4-sensor kit (part number - PZQ98-60010-40) although EBay kits go for much less (some less than $50!).

Is parking sensor switch on a Toyota Lexus Scion the same size as a Toyota Prado? Found one on EBay for $30NZ although I don't know the cost of one at a Toyota dealer. Link to Ebay auction is as follows:

                              Digging one up guys...

I got a quote yesterday to add front parking sensors to my 2016 gxl (silver). $275 for the sensors and approx $275+gst for fitting. So we'll say $575 total.

This price was purely just walking in off the street without pushing for a discount being that was the dealer I bought from and service with.

Unfortunately I didn't have enough time to dig into specifics of what extra parts are used, ie another button to isolate front and rear individually. Maybe by now there is more info out there?

                              Cheers, Will.

i have a 2014 and they have an extra button to isolate, they do not integrate with the screen. I just leave mine turned off now, was sick of listening to all the beeping when driving on the freeway at 100km/h
waste of money in my opinion. very easy car to park once you get use to it.
