    Hello Everyone,

    After some research I did I decided to use Redarc bcdc charger for my dual battery system. Yet what is always neglected is that such a charger won't charge properly if the battery has load connected. This is why I am looking for 5 PIN relays capable to switch more than 40A (the best would be 80A). The idea is very simple - to reconnect a whole aux load to the main battery when the engine is running (the ignition is on) and charging is in progress. I want to use a single relay if I can find any. It has to be 5 PIN to avoid solenoid current while aux load is running on aux battery.

    Guys, any hints where to go for them? I found some on ebay yet 4 PINs only.

      Hi Darek,

      I have this exact, change over relay setup with my DC-C chargers - I just use 40amp 5-pin Narva change-over relays.
      (Narva part# 68048).

      I can't understand why you would have more than 40Amps of load on your Aux. battery while the engine is running? What loads to you have connected tot he Aux. battery?

        Nothing major. I'm going to replace existing connections to all 12V sockets, to the rear inverter and I'm going to add at least one anderson socket for heavy load when I use my external 1000W inverter. For short time of course.
        From this point it is better to collect a whole load in one wire to connect it to the batteries. It's gonna be the aux battery connected when ignition is off and the main battery when in ACC mode. Say, if I want to use an inverter for a few minutes to boil a water for my tea when the engine is not running it is better to run it from the aux battery, just in case if it was too long.

          You must have a low wattage kettle? most 230 volt ones are around 2000 watts from my experience.

            This is a small one for "travellers", meant to be used when you fly. 800W, 0.35l

              Where can you plug in an 800W kettle in a plane?
              155 SX with dual battery and Polyairs in the rear springs..

                I can't plug it anywhere in a plane, however, I may somewhere in a hotel. The difference is that such a small one fits into limited space in the suitcase yet has limited power as well. You can't boil water during flight for a number of reasons not lack of electricity only.
