  • bigCake,

    I found this,

"12v acc. - I am sure there will be many different locations and perhaps differing color depending on location.
Green Wire, Drivers side of the Engine Bay above the brake booster going to the wiper motors."

    Here,

    http://www.pradopoint.com/showthread.php?18705

However, I'm still having intermittant starting issues. I used a crimp fitting to tap into the loom, this may be causing the problem, when I get time I'll solder it and see if that helps. If not I'll try the pink wire behind the start switch.

    Answers to your questions,
    1, haven't had a look yet.
2, the panel it's mounted in literally pulls out of the dash, a bit fiddly but it will come out without tools
    3, mine isn't

      • I tried to be patient with my chip it chip. But in the end i just couldnt do it anymore to my car. I can imagine it has done great things for others. But for me it was just problems and trouble shooting. Now if it was for my say 10k honda i would take the risk for the extra gains but not for a car i paid 68k for. I just didnt expect to be fiddling around with it so much.

Ive returned my chip over 2 weeks ago and am awaiting my refund. Im just going to have to get used to the power toyota gave me. =)

You do know we have a replacement Injector style chip where the Common Rail Chip just will not work?

Also, we are now doing more testing to see where this new issue is coming from ... especially with a batch of chips we had during Feb 2012.

I will keep u all posted.

          • Well that was an experience learning all about the pitfalls and benefits of diesel engine chips to 150 D4D engines. I have made my decision based on the engine check light and other electrical issues; I have ordered a Steinbauer module and it goes on Monday morning at diesel care on the gold coast. I plan to get the muffler swapped out for a free flowing unit to assist in getting the exhaust has moving faster and hopefully lowering EGT. The protection built into the module with regards to EGT will keep everything where it needs to be.

            • Matt we have the same module. We charge $300 less and it develops 5% more power.

The Common Rail chip develops more power again but if people want to go Steinbauyer style then we have that option as well.

              Just so people are aware

              • Also can I ask you to tell me what you know about the EGT control on the Steinbauyer Chip? Some info there I bet you are unaware of.

Dont get me wrong.... its a good chip but we know they too are over priced and is why we brought out our equivalent

Thanks for that info. I was aware of that from reading the thread. I am looking for overall reliability and am more than happy with my choice. I have looked at the choices and am happy with my decision. It's good to see people have some solid info on forums such as Pradopoint, from which to make a personnel choice.

                  Slow and steady..

                  • Not only Chip it chips play up! My wife is sick of the limp home modes coming on, lucky she has a bit of a clue
(dont tell her I said that) and can reset it with the scangauge.
In saying that they said they would dyno it for free if I was closer so they are taking it back to retune it .
If it continues it is destined for ebay

                              • Well ... we have some good new re the Prado 150 Chips.

As you know we have been working hard to find the problem associated with 150 Series Prado Chips. It was doing our heads in too.

The problem has been identified as a bad batch of OP AMPS. The January batch from supplier were faulty. It had the effect of pulling up voltage where it was suppose to filter the signal. The part is hard to test and so it made us try replacing each component until we got the right part.

The end result is that we have replaced a few OP AMPS on board we knew were giving us issues and the board has come back to doing what it was suppose to do. On the vehicles we tested the problem went away completely.

Therefore, anybody that has had issues with their 150 Series Prado chips please contact the office (1800 78 48 82) and we will organise to swap out the faulty board with platinum post bags both ways.

You only need to send back the chip. Keep the harness installed with the 22 pin test plug (loop back plug) plugged in.

We have had super support from this forum and I do thank those that have showed great patience whilst we sorted this out. I really mean that.

We were always out to support our customers and never ran from the critics or angry customers as it was so frustrating for us too.

We felt like we were banging our heads on the wall with this issue. Thankfully we now are able to get those with chips causing CEL turned around so that you can actually get to enjoy the product that you paid for.

Thanks again and we do apologise for the frustration that caused so many headaches.

If anyone wishes to speak to me personally, either PM me or call me direct on the mobile 0412 304030.
