Seems little b/s excuses if you ask me though...

The funny thing is it started this crap in summer in far north qld.
Barry it is powered from the rail sensor.

Cold? in QLD? Glad i haven't got one of them chips here in VIC bloody freezing!Originally posted by sbclover View PostOn a sh*t note, my chip has played up again ,logging PO93 large fuel leak. I rang them again told them and they said we'll send it back to the manufacter..... ok (this is second round)
Got answer back finally after telling them I wanted my money back.
Here goes, We have sent your chip back to the manufacturer and they can not fault it. ( ahh ok) They /we think it is because of the cold weather where you live so they have sent out a UK region chip that works better with the cold weather. ( once again ahh ok). So it will be in the mail tomorrow morning.
Being I am a qualified Motor Mechanic and now working on heavy diesels for a Manufacturer, I say they are Full of it and don't know why it is doing what it is doing.
Seriously considering a different chip.
Anyone got any thoughts

I'm pretty sure that fault code "PO93 large fuel leak" is the same one I was getting with my first Chip-It chip. Which was caused by a voltage surge. Does your chip run off 12v battery power or 5v sensor power?

Hope all is well Brogers. I've spent enough time in hospitals for a few lifetimes!
My Chip It has been installed close to a month now. Had three non start issues in the early days, but none since. Go figure.
Love the power two chips give while towing. Much more confident passing caravans etc. Just have to be sensible with the loud pedal and not get carried away. Maybe the 3" exhaust has got a touch louder in time? Drones a bit at certain revs/load.

Maybe its got something to do with my easy going type first and worry about what I have written later attitude....
However from my point of view Skywalker does come across a bit "cocky" or "negative" with all of the "quotes" and formality.
Entertaining, YES
Informative, YES.
but the "tone" is getting a bit serious for me.
The positive in Skywalker's bull doggedness in continuing to probe is that we learn more. (Which is what this forum is about)
(There you go!! a little back peddling to balance out this reply!)
Again this is my perception and I'm a gentle giant. ;-)

He keeps the EGT's down buy increasing boost as well, maintaining the correct air/fuel ratio. Other brands increase fuel only and make it a richer mix and in diesels that makes more heat. Opposite to a petrol engine basically.Originally posted by Talktheroo View PostI don't think anyone's trying to do that Rob, or upset you. Matter of fact, I am considering one of your chips for my 1KZ-TE.
I think it's just a case of trying to understand how you get more torque/power without increasing the heat factor. It would seem that most members are getting a decrease in the EGTs using your brand of chip and it's not a small decrease either. Around the 50 degree C which is quite a bit. I find this very interesting and in theory this would put less strain on those seats and the injectors while producing more power. That's quite amazing really when you think of how the basic principles work for the diesel engine in general.
What would be the affect if the customer kept the standard exhaust system and didn't install a high flow 3" system?

Skywalkerrun, if rail pressure is too high the fuel limiter opens and relieves the pressure. The chip does not alter this factory inbuilt safety feature.
Modifying anything may or may not be compromising its integrity. Thats the risk you need to be prepared to make.Last edited by barryswanson; 16-06-2012, 04:13 PM.

Chipit, I am not interested in learning 0-5 volt signals, signal emulation, the interpolation of these signals as i believe that you are referring to VDB=Vehicle Data Bus (CANbus), CAN-H and CAN-L..... These are not what i am interested in at all.
I am also not out to slander you but was purely asking a few questions about what "you" stated in your own words so i do not see this as slander or word manipulation.
Here is the blurb that you written your self
http://www.pradopoint.com/showthread...l=1#post351931
Here is the link to my "original" questions in response to your statement.

"Quote from chipit": Clearly you say that we override Toyota safety protocols and others don't. You have no basis to form this opinion and in fact we don't override any safety features
"Answer from skywalkerrun": If you intercept the primary and secondary signal from the fuel pressure sensor and then manipulate it so that it elevates fuel rail press then hasnt a toyota safety feature just been compromised?
"Quote from Chipit": Chip It Performance ECU intercepts both Primary & Secondary signals and all value changes are made in correlation to each other, hence why we get more power than others without CEL issues
"Quote from chipit" I hope this helps explain this point clearly. Let me know if you need further info
"question from skywalkerrun": And so i asked a few questions sticking strictly to your quote of claims and now i am accused by you for slander???.... Still no answers to my questions?
"Quote from Chipit": the addition of the EGT controller we are adding safety to what the industry has so far neglected
"Answer from skywalkerrun": practically all vehicles brand new never come with EGT... Whats changed?
"Quote from Chipit": I don't know about others but when people come out and slander with what is obviously no expertise, experience or regard for truth it really gets my back up
"Answer from skywalkerrun" I agree with you 100% on this one but less the slander!

Chip-it, I'll give credit where its due and its good to see the amount of involvement that you have on the forum and the backup for your product.
However if you are on the forum and you make statements it's also reasonable to ask questions. I know you've copped a fair bit of flack, in part because you are on the forum, but that doesn't justify getting worked up over a reasonable question.
As an observer I think skywalkers questions are reasonable, were asked in good faith and weren't meant as an attack. As someone who has followed this debate I am also very interested. I would love a chip but I am concerned about the long term effects on the engine, particularly when it comes to boosting injector pressure.Originally posted by Skywalkerrun View Post
I do not want to come across as trying to undermine your credibility as good competition is "always welcome" and strongly encouraged as it forces all other competitors on there toes and this makes better/cheaper products for us the consumer but what you are claiming does not appear to be adding-up and i am not sure what i am missing as far as the engine being able to protect its self when you are intercepting and modifying the secondary signals.
Cheers
Like I said your support and involvement is great and on the whole it appears to be appreciated. Apart from one poster who was obviously trolling I haven't seen anyone trying to slander you.
I suggest you have another read of the questions, they are not a personal attack. Unfortunately if you can't see the questions for what they are then you need to be careful about what you say on the forum, and what claims you make. It's one of the basic principles that you can make statements and that people can ask reasonable questions on this forum.Last edited by krypto; 16-06-2012, 02:05 PM.
