    Hi Rob,

I am in the Melbourne area, down on the Mornington Peninsula. I have a 120 series D4D.

What is this sensor, what does it sense and where is it located? The company I bought the chip from said I would never know which sensor it was until it fails completely.

    Cheers.

    • Judging by your track record Diesel Smart you are just "curious" to see how you can further your BS'ing to the uninformed.

Like the crap on the front page of your webpage saying "don't buy a chip ... buy a module" or stuff like ... Don't increase the rail pressure, the engine will be destroyed. Just BS.

If you need to find out info, you can easily do this yourself since you sell rail chips (as you have previously stated)

If the product you purchased connects to the rail sensor (you can ask the company you purchased that one from) then the one I suspect is problematic is the common rail sensor. This is the spare one I have.

We liked the first so much ... if you will do another write up for an EGT Controller install on You Tube, I will send one out free of charge.

Could you just place a BIG "X" on the Earth Strap area of the first install and bring attention to the battery connection. Dont know if its easier to re - do that portion ???

In any case, regardless, just tell me if you are keen on this

            Cheers

            • Have done almost 7000 km getting to, during and from the GTG, with about another 2000 km to go before I get home. Most of this towing the camper trailer, which is why I had a Chipit chip installed.

Extremely happy with the chip, not one problem at all.
It was given a very good work out on most of this trip, especially towing the camper down the Border track.

              Very good product Robert, thankyou.

At about the 4400km mark before the highway trip from Beachport to Gympie (Qld) I had averaged about 15.2 Lt phk.
Arriving in Gympie it was down to 14.2 Lt phk. I can't really compare as I haven't had the camper long enough to do a trip anything like this, pre chip.

In fact it was towing the camper on a very short trip (240km return) that convinced me that a chip would be worth it, as you could pass other vehicles, but it sure did use up a lot of road.

How big is your camper and are those figures measured or from the readout?

Yeah, with the chip installed, I reckon you could just about go around corners sideways anytime you want, if you wish.

Prior to the chip being fitted, it seemed to take forever to pass vehicles whilst I was towing the camper.

I will have to weigh it when it's loaded up, but I guess that it would be around 1300 - 1400 kg.

Those figures quoted are just from the readout, I didn't record any of the fuel figures, as I'm not really concerned as I still would have done the GTG if it used more than it did.

It was a holiday and I had budgeted for a lot more than that. But I am happy with the result, considering that was for the whole trip, 4WDriving & all

                            • Hi guys,

For the benefit of those that don't have time to search etc, there was talk about Exhaust Gas Recirculation (EGR) and oil into the inlet manifold from the crankcase ventilation system being cooked by the EGR hot gases going. The special on the Oil Catch Cans is a result of some searching.

Here it is for those interested.

                              • I agree with Rev.

My chip makes a huge difference when towing our challenge camper fully loaded. The estimated weight is 1,400 to 1,500kg in the trailer added to packed items in the car, a steel dual wheel carrier with 2 spares, full set of shelving with steel frame and fridge slide and fridge etc, full set of bash plates, steel arb bar and there is some significant extra weight! Overtaking becomes difficult, but with the chip, she drops back a gear and literally flies past traffic as if it were a v6 unloaded. I am happy to prove this to anyone who may doubt this statement. My trip back from WA to SA was done with the trailer packed up along with the car to haul back the last of my belongings. Overtaking roadtrains, caravans, sedans and anything doing less than gazetted speed limits was not an issue.

I also acknowledge that when I am not towing, the power is fantastic but I do blow some smoke on acceleration. This is really my fault though as I haven't made some modifications that will allow me to set the tune lower. My current tune is a customised tune 8 done by the man himself in WA.
