Cant talk for other manufacturers. but ours does not change ANYTHING at idle (circa 1100mv) or even to to 2200 mv.
What is fact is that other chips (or modules as some like to call them) do not adjust BOTH throttle signal values (thus why they dont get as good a power result as Chip It do)
What we use the Injector Chip (or modules as some like to call them) for is to go for out and out power IN COMBINATION WITH the Rail Chip (or modules as some like to call them)
Fact is you cannot get the power out of the injector Chip (or modules as some like to call them) as you can from the Rail Chip (or modules as some like to call them)
We prove it over and over again
However, if someone wants a injector Module (or Chip as we like to call them) we have these available too.
BTW Re: exhaust. The offer for someone to have a cheap 3" exhaust if we can use your car in Sydney for a day is still on offer. We need to remove yours, get a system rigged up and then within a few weeks have the car returned for test fit. Good way to get a cheap system
Let me know.

Engine chipping experiences
Hi Robert,Originally posted by Chip It View PostHi Derek

This is not what the problem was. They were probably just cheaply made chips with poor electronics as NO RAIL CHIP increases pressure at idle.
I would have thought the same thing - ie why change any factory parameters at, or near, idle in order to preserve idle quality? Nevertheless, the effect was noticeable and repeatable (ie only exhibited when the units were in use). I had surmised it was due to the ECU having to run extremely short injector durations (to compensate for the extra pressure) in order to achieve targets RPMs. But that's just my guess based on observation, what do you think causes those sorts of effects? It was evident on my R51 Pathfinder too, using another brand of device though.
Surely it would be nice if there was an INDEPENDENT magazine that could do an unbiased trial of the main units on the market so that the poor consumer can really get an idea of how the different brands and types stack up (acceleration runs, in gear overtaking, NVH, BSFC). I'd love to see a proper laboratory ADR fuel economy run done as well, to finally put some fact behind the snake-oil fuel saving claims made about chips and exhausts.

And welcome to the forum! don't forget to post in the welcome area.
We are a visual lot, so photo's (more like evidence due to the "undertone" of this thread ;-))of your setup would be awesome!
Just a little bit of humor, seriously welcome and enjoy the vast amount of great information you will find on this great forum.
all the best

Hi guys, I've tried two rail pressure 'chips' on my Kakadu now. Neither were the Chip-It, and neither impressed due to the rougher idle and noisier injection, which I attributed to the higher rail pressures. There's no doubt though, both worked fine and improved performance. The last module I took off to get the car serviced, and didn't bother to put it back on because it was nice having the standard idle quality back - the rougher idle made things in the dash rattle. A mate recommended the DieselSmart to me and I liked the idea of leaving the rail pressures alone for the above reasons. Well, to say I'm impressed is an under statement. Idle quality and noise are back at factory levels but the throttle response and outright linearity in the torque curve is amazing! And tht's on setting 2 of the 4. It's been on a few weeks now without trouble. Too early to say what the effect on fuel economy will be because I'm still having fun driving it and haven't been on a trip.

I try because I want things to last up here in the NT. Sometimes it's trial an error like my EGT gauge. The digital one I found hard to read during the day and it stopped working so I asked the supplier to change it over to an analogue one...Waiting for it to be posted.Originally posted by Chip It View Postyou always do great work winniliss . creds to you.

I didn't get the EGT controller due to it's size and limited space to mount it hence why I got a standard EGT gauge mounted on the drivers side pillar:Originally posted by MNK View PostHi chip it & diesel smart.
Thank you for your reply's and comments.
I am fully aware that your products are out there and others, as I have looked at rapid chips aswell. i think chip it raised a good point of making the exhaust after the mods, suit for furthur modifications as it a very smart move forward. I will be in contact futher with you guys and if I need further assistance to help my mate tune it i will require full support and that is what makes a good product better I believe. for the guys with chip it products where are you mounting EGT as there is not many spots for accessories in the Kakadu!!

You don't need to monitor in fact. Many have the controller up under the dash. The point is, that its there when you need it. It will automatically adjust up and down without user intervention. I have mined displayed above my left knee (where typically a brake controller would be) but I really seldom look at it. More for if I need to show a customer how it works.
Some have taken it out of the casing and mounted the bare controller so that only the LED display is seen. I know some folks have posted pics of it mounted in the centre console and also in the dash itself.

You have posted in this Chip IT Thread enough for ANYONE to know you exist
Your need to bombard this thread must mean your own diesel smart thread is not attracting enough interest. LOL
