I will be taking my car trailer loaded on a couple of thousand k trip next week and plan to take the laptop with me
Last time I towed it without a chip just the exhaust was ok but I just wanted more...
thanks for posting a good report guys. Wish we could upload the smiles too. Mine as well. I love driving my car with the chip. BTW, after you have had the Chip on for a while, disconnect the Chip (using the 22 pin test plug we supply) and feel of what the car was like BC (Before Chip). You will be surprised what power you had (and what you were putting up with) stock
It really is amazing going backwards ... hard to explain to those that have never tried it
No problems Robert, I'm just tellin it like it is.
The grin is too big, I don't think that they make a wide angle len's wide enough.

Mate , No problem since fitting . The engine is smoother (even my wife commented that) and now having had it on during a 1200km trip fuel consumption is down too. EGT's look good too.
Sean
I'm with you Sean, the chip has been in a month today and not a hint of trouble. You have said the engine is smoother & IMO you are spot on.
Time to have a look at a couple of other tunes I'm thinking

1) In a way, yes. We tried to get an average gain from tunes 1 -15. Yes there are 15 different tunes to choose from. They step up a little each time.
2) On the D4d Hilux/Prado you would want the chip to cut off at around 10% more than stock (STD exhaust without Chip)
Stock figures are circa 600 Deg C Post turbo. Dont place the pyro pre turbo. If the tip fails it will kill a turbo. Every manufacture places them post turbo for this reason. Remember we are not interested in what the ACTUAL temps are ... we just want a safe 10% increase over stock for it then to cut out.
IE if you placed the probe 1 meter south of the turbo and recorded say 250 deg C, 10% increase would be the same increase as when you placed the probe 20mm after the turbo. Did I explain this adequately?
A couple of questions;
1. What is the difference in performance between the chip-it tunes and is there a standard %step between tunes
2. I read the chip-it info on EGT mounting, has anyone mounted before the turbo? What is the maximum safe temp after the turbo?
I believe you were quoted for custom dyno tuning Sean, along with our rotary switching system and fitting for the products. but never the less if you're happy with what you got then that's just the way the cookie crumbles
