Compliments again to Robert and Chip It for the excellent service and prompt attention.

I fitted the Chipit about 3 weeks ago and I've been running it on tune 5. I recently did a round trip north with the chip installed that I've done previously without the chip
Without chip; 1275kms using 135l = 10.6 l/100km (indicated 9.8l/100km on dash)
With chip; 1270kms using 131l = 10.3 l/100km (indicated 8.8l/100km on dash)
I drove a bit harder and a did bit more dirt work with the chip installed so I'm guessing the chip gave about 5% better fuel economy.
Observations on the ChipIt:
- Much smoother power delivery
- Noticeably better overtaking
- Makes the Prado much nicer to drive
- Gives a ridiculously low fuel consumption reading on the display, mine was already about 10% low before the chip and now its about 25% out.
Its been running trouble free with no starting problems. The only problem was that some wires were crossed on the chip harness when I first received it and which made for some terrible engine noises on the first start-up. ChipIt fixed the wiring harness and no problems since.Last edited by krypto; 26-07-2012, 12:20 PM.

good point rbet,
I always ask our customers to tell me what fuel their using by calculating as opposed to those displays on the dash. Those displays always seem to be wrong.
One of our customers had a competitors chip (for those wondering, no it was not a chip it) on his car and it was reading 7.9L per hundred but his actual fuel usage was 13.2.. Very interesting observation. Then fitting our module he went down to 11.4 but his reading on the dash went up to 9.8 or something along those lines.

The better fuel consumption on your 1200km trip was that based on actual fuel used or what the dash display was telling you.
Since fitting the chip on mine I got sucked into thinking my fuel economy was better as the reading from the dash display tells me i'm getting 7.7l/100 where my actual fuel usage is 9.9lt/100. The reading before fitting chip would display 9.2lt/100
I found that the higher the tune I tried the better the fuel economy shown on the dash display

they do come in a weather proof zippy bag but the one you are talking about is for the next model. Not finished yet. Still a while to go

I recall discussions about ChipIT new packaging (more water proofing), has this happened yet?
