    very happy with it
recently fitted a better flowing exhaust at $150 --better again!!

    Hey Noah,

What exhaust did you have fitted and did it make much difference to the exhaust noise?

I am one of the affected February customer of Chipit with starting issue and CEL. Chipit sent me a new chip for replacement. Also, Chipit had relay installed for me, which is also FREE (part and labour). Before the relay was installed, still experiencing the engine start issue. However, no more starting issue after the relay was installed. Happy now~~~~

    Excellent customer support+++++

I have just returned from a 9000km central oz tour towing a small 12ft expanda van. Chip installed the night before I left, as delivered factory set to tune 5. Not one problem of any kind, it did use more fuel but that would have been my right foot. Best of all I had power to overtake and the EGT was significantly lower. STD it when easily climb to 600c +, with the chip it rarely saw anything higher then 560. Normal cruise was around the 380-420 mark.

Robert thanks for your assistance prior to my departure.

Overall very happy with my purchase.

for all intents and purposes, as far as we know the problem has been licked. (NB... I did believe this was true last time too )

Seriously though, the new revision (for 150 Series Prado and 70 Series L/C only mind you) seems to have been the right move.

Mind you we have sold approx 29x 150 Series Prado Chips in last 2 weeks and so I am talking from some vantage point

I have also been following this discussion for a long time with the aim of chipping once all the issues are cleared.

Some interesting info Roo, thanks for the link. Will a new thread be started on this?

Couldn't see much in that suggesting temp related issues, the changes to the injector learning control seem to be aimed at achieving euro4 standards. The seal changes sound like they are related to pressure issues. I'll save future comments for a new thread.

Roo please stay on topic.. This is not the thread for discussion of anything but engine chipping experience.. Plenty of other threads to post your info in that are better suited.

The situation at present with the internal design of the injector system really doesn't allow for this. More power = more heat, especially in that middle band of the head. There is already a problem with heat transfer causing the seals and the injectors to fail. Any increase in block and head temperatures just will make matters worse, speeding up the failure process of these two components sooner, just my opinion.
This is why on the most recent update or reflash TMC wand back the fuel values especially in the idle and cold start parameters of the software in the ECM, to try and fix the problem.
Ok, Denso has gone a long way to redesigning the new G3 injectors, with a new solenoid, better head design and materials, but the problem still remains, and that is heat transfer because of the internal design of this set up.
Having the EGT probe there on the dump pipe will only tell some of the story and will not give the full picture when it comes to the area in question, that being the middle of the head where the mounting sections for the injectors lie. This is why with the new seal design TMC have coated the seals to try and reflect some of that heat from the injector housings.
Even if your module is increasing the air flow by controlling the vane turbine better, this will also increase the heat of the block and the head.
It's a no win situation with how this fuel system and head are designed, at least from your point of view, and what you are hoping your module will achieve. I am not saying that it won't achieve what you have designed it to do, and that is to provide more power, I am sure that it does, but it will also take some of the longevity out of two components that are already pretty stressed out as it is.
Your module and at least one other brand, are great on any diesel engine that doesn't have this internal design for the fuel system, eg. 1KZs, 1HDs, 1HZs, Puma i4 and i5s, for that matter, any CRD diesel engine that doesn't have the injectors mounted underneath the rocker cover, etc, etc..... but with the 1KDs I can't see it being a good idea.
    Just my opinion, the Roo.

Thats interesting mate where do you get your information from if you don't mind me asking?

I installed my Chip-It recently and remain on the factory supplied tune. Also have a SB chip, plus Airtec snorkel and 3" exhaust.
Currently at Coral Bay, enroute from Broome to Perth. The camper I'm towing probably comes in at over 1200kg with current load.
I have experienced the non-start on three occasions. First time, started second crank. Second time, started third crank. Third time, started fourth crank. That's not good, but the extra power when towing in windy conditions is great.
Double chipped, hopefully not double trouble!
BTW, not towing, the damn thing accelerates like, well, something that accelerates very quickly indeed.
Towing fuel consumption seems to be a tad worse if anything at all. More power, more fuel stands to reason.

Having read several pages back - component issues were identified as the cause of problems with regards to check engine light as well as starting issues - is it safe to 100% say there are now no problems associated with running the chip it chip on standard tune with the 150 series.

I am currently in Perth from Newcastle nsw with my Prado and remain very interested to purchase a chip. I have been waiting/reading this thread since mid last year. Chip it - can you confirm the malfunctioning circuit components have eliminated all check engine lights as well as all starting issues.
    Regards

Will know for certain in a bit under 2 weeks, when I get an EGT & Chip in.

    Cheers

Remember that from a legal perspective smoke that looks like its from a gun doesn't mean you fired the gun, e.g. the whole set up, EGT, and waterproof box doesn't prove you use the chip--for legal culpability. Its a bit like those SUV owners who bravely go solo into backwoods car parks and periodically mount a curb at traffic lights?!
