Glad the missus is OK and hope it fixes the miss fire, all be it, a severe way to fix it. I have been following this thread as I have a manual 150 TD and hope I dont have this issue in the future.

And yes, you do have your internet viewing priorities in the correct order.

thank you to everyone expressing their concern for the missus, we really appreciate the interest shown from many pp's, it shows there is still great people in this country, again thank you, spoke to insurer today and they have said they would most likely want to repair the rig, also they said they wont inspect the engine after it was running while on its side for 3-5mins, the insurer started the engine and said it sounds fine- how tops is that, im looking foward to major engine damage down the track, looks like i have a fight on my hands.
                  cheers trent

I wonder what Toyota Australia will have to say about that with respect to the balance of your new car warranty?

It's by no means the same situation but when my wife bumped another car in my 90 series years agao the radiator got 'touched' by the fan with enough damage to warrant a replacement as part of the repair. To cut a long story short the repairer did a recore as approved by the insurance company. Fortunately it leaked (ottherwise I may not have noticed) and after some 'discussion' I simply said that if I had problems with the engine later whilst under warranty then a non-standard radiator would possibly jepodise a warranty claim.......response from insurance company......new radiator fitted.

I'd be giving the insurance company some strong suggestions if they decide to fix the vehicle... Perhaps a few written recommendations from Toyota and the finance company will help..

looks like the insurance company wants to repair the damage, i have asked for a second opinion also asked for engine and transmission to be stripped down and inspected, toyota has told me all parts fitted with the repair will have 12mths warranty- there goes new car and extended warranty, waiting for an itemised repair bill so i can see to what extent they want to repair the prado.
if anyone has had experience dealing with insurance companys with something similar i would appreciate any advice you can give please'
                                cheers
