if anyone has had experience dealing with insurance companys with something similar i would appreciate any advice you can give please'
    cheers

Well you've paid for new car warranty in purchasing a new vehicle and for the extended warranty which is now useless on those items being replaced so I would be complaining to the insurance company.

Get all of it in writing from Toyota and present it to the insurance company.

also i didnt tell you about the other kick in the nuts the insurance company has given me, i have been given a datsun xtrail hire car what a death trap, it makes me realise how good the prado was, they also classified the xtrail as a commercial vechile which means i have to pay for km's used after 100km per day, they were stumped when i asked them if the pantek was a military amphibius vechile- they thought i was the wierd one

Sounds like common sense prevailed... Will the insurance cover your extras? Years back I had a car written off and I was lucky enough to be able to pull some of the accessories off (nudge bar, spotties and possessions like tools in the back etc... However, this was before the assessor had seen it... Will you be going for another Prado?

hey craig, yeah i will go for another prado, it will be new for old replacement as it was less than two years, spotties etc all covered under the policy, the only thing which im not sure about will be the coopers that were fitted 1500kms ago, the insurer has indicated they might replace them with a new set, then you speek to another dept and they say they are keeping them, i will fight for them i have even said i will swap with new grandtreks that come on the new prado

May have got to the bottom of misfire problem. Dealers service department could not offer any solution so I decided, as it wasn't getting any worse, to ignore the problem. Thinking I probably won't keep this car for long. The 120 before was a much better car in build quality and reliability. Anyhow over the past 6 weeks I started to fill up at a service station that has more diesel bowsers and no waiting. Thanks to the big fuel tank I only need to fill up once a week so I can manage to use the fore mentioned service station at the end of the week. To my surprise the car has not missed once since the first fill up. Trying not to believe it has been the fuel all along I decided to fill up at another service station dispensing the same brand. Still no miss. During the next few weeks I purposefully reduce the contents of the tank till the light comes on and fill up with totally different brand. If it starts to miss again I will have come closer to the solution. If it does not miss perhaps the car has fixed itself. Anyhow I will let you know the final outcome in the next installment.
