    Filter element life is as long as you can clean it without damaging it. It can be cleaned over and over.

    • ##########,Mate, This one is for you ,you maybe able to explain to me what's going on in my girl .I have had a 2l catch can with no filter and or gauze ,both the inlet and outlet are on the top but opposite sides, installed now for some time and the indicator hose shows very little rubbish in the bottom of the can .I bought the larger size to try and get the heat out of the air that flows and to get condensation for the water and whatever to settle out faster but very little material has settled .I'm wondering if it is my bypass system I have installed that helps to filter all the oil down to 2micron over a period of time thus trapping the muck even before it gets to the catch can ????The bypass filter is huge about the same size as my catch can . I agree using ordinary heater hose is a no brainer you must use the proper oil hose for this job as I learn t earlier .Roo ,do you have any suggestions ?? Cheers foxy

      • Sorry, I forgot to add, I have done about 10K including towing since adding the catch can. Also if anyone else has any idea why I have so little muck in the can, would be good to know Cheers Foxy

          • The other day I had a look at the filter in the provent i fitted and was shocked at how much crap was on it after only a few thousand k's. They definately do the job.

            • I also cleaned my Morroso Oil catch can out on the weekend and after about 5000klms was surprised at how much I got out of it about 50mls of black liquid. Glad that hadn't made it's way to the intake tract.

                  • Just had my 10,000 dealer service done last week but actual k's is only 7,000 odd. I put the Morroso Oil Air separator on at about 2000k.

                      • I had a crack at my provent install yesterday and ran into a bit of a problem with the drain hose. The 1/2" fuel hose I got seems to thick to run anywhere and not interfere with factory components or look out of place. My thoughts then changed to just capping the drain plug to save the hassle.

                        For the guys who have capped the drain, how often do you find you have to empty the can and does the oil pooling in the bottom of it interfere with the filter operation (i.e. the oil doesn't "wick" back up the filter does it)? If it's a once every few months thing then it wouldn't be a problem, but I can't see myself unbolting and draining it each week!

                          • rwo, mine is capped. I see oil on the filter but it is not interfering with the operation of the unit. It is not sitting in a bath of oil I mean.

                            Just check it every 3 - 6 months to see how full yours will get. It wont actually get to the filter as the reservoir below the filter is substantial.
