My unit has an end cap on the bottom of the filter unit, no seal as such,
the top has an "O" ring seal.
If you insert the filter you can move it sideways considerably before the to
seal houses indicating there is considerable clearance between the bottom
end plug and the case walls.
Also if you pour some water into the filter with it seated in the housing the water
drains from the bottom hole, I don't know what else I can add to prove the oil
will drain, genuine provent unit that is.
Plenty here are using the provent without having to modify the filter and the oil
drains ok?

Hi Leigh
have just received my provent 200 and I cant seem to pull out the filter from the center with out feeling like I will break it. Is this filter usually hard to get apart/pull out and is it just the 40mm mesh part (approx dia) section that pulls out or is it the whole black plastic disk area under the inlet?
Sorry all ok finally pulled apart, tight little sucker!!
I am intrigued. I have a Chip It / Chip tuning can. Not yet installed. The documentation supplied clearly states "Provent HP200 Oil Catch Cans". So is it or isn't it? Sorry Roo either you aren't correct or the Trade Practices Act has taken a beating. I want to know which.

I'm interested in this too, when I purchased the unit I believed it was a genuine provent unit but with chipit stickers, now I go and read the description on chipit's site and it states "provent style", so Robert the question is are they genuine Provent units and will a genuine provent filter fit correctly or a they cheap Chinese copies?
Cheers

The main problem for me with these Chinese copies, is that the genuine Mann replacement filters don't fit into the housing tight like the genuine Mann Provent 200 units do.
The Roo.
True. And you will see that the ones I sell do have the filters fitting tight. That's the reason I can support these
Robert there are at least three of us who would like to know if we have purchased a genuine Provent catch can or a copy. By not answering I guess I know what is the correct answer and I am not happy. Please advise.

Mann Hummel outsource the build of these. No matter what MH say, THEY DO NOT "MAKE" them. I believe, from the advice I have, by the measurements taken and the quality of the product, these are NOT cheap Chinese knock offs.
We made it clear these were NOT Mann Hummel items. We sell many of these every day and I have not had one fail or returned. They perform as advertised.
Not really impressed myself I was under the impression as many others are that thay were genuine units just with chipit stickers.
"I have a small quality (50x) of Provent style Oil Catch Cans. These are on sale for $160.00 plus $18.00 freight.
They are a Chip Tuning Brand but same as the Provent 200"
Second question is do the genuine mann filters fit correctly into these units you are selling
ie tightly or do you need to purchase replacements from you?

see my previous reply. re compatibility, you can buy replacement filters from anywhere you like. Mine are $65.00 From Western Filters they are $70.00 Up to you where you buy them from however.
That picture doesn't say "Provent style" it says "Provent". It lists the can as a "Provent HP200". Can you not see the difference? Can you understand why we thought we were getting the genuine article? I am sure the local agents for the real deal would.
