Now before anyone recommends that I search the forum for answers, Ive read the entire thread on the drone, and I am still at a loss.
Picked up the new prado 3 weeks ago, and immediately noticed the sound. Throttle dependant at all speeds. I read the drone thread and being that I was always going to fit a snorkel I didn't worry too much and I just tolerated it. Well today, I had a snorkel fitted (hoping this would solve the problem) but nothing has changed.
The sound is definitely coming from the drivers side engine bay, and the best way that I can describe the sound is an intake howl. It doesn't vary pitch very much but it certainly does change in volume. Even with the drivers window down and sticking your head out the window, it is still very noticeable. It almost sounds like a cat moaning.
It goes back in on Friday for its first service and I'll be asking them about it along with a few other issues (squishy sound from the brake pedal when depressed) but I don't hold too much hope of a toyota mechanic having any idea.
Im hoping someone here might be able to offer some advice.
