Going down a steep range with a caravan on weight 2300 kg in 1st gear engine did not rev over 4100 most of the time around 3800 rpm. When i was at the bottom of the range sifted back to 4th and now power. Could hear the turbo whistle and tappets rattle and no power. Even the exhaust sounded different. Once turned off the car was back to normal. Went to Toyota and no faults were found. I wonder if it can not rev as high as the tacho. Any ideas

never heard of such an issue before,
you sure you were in gear? lol
could have been the ecu not happy with something, but then again it would have come up on diagnostics..Last edited by Octane94; 17-03-2013, 08:14 PM.

Hi Frank2,
It's been a while back since your loss of power posting. I was wondering whether you had found the reason for this in the meantime or perhaps a certain "reset routine" when it happens. There are two more post in this forum with a similar experience. What is in common is that all involve prolonged engine braking close to 4000RPM towing around 2.3t. May be you can add some more details about your situation (fuel level tanks/temperatures) and whether you still have this occurring.
