New Exhaust - Now Heaps Diesel Fumes

Hi, just had a new 2 3/4" exhaust fitted to my SWB 3 litre diesel and now am getting heaps my diesel fumes from it.
Now not being mechanical, am thinking there could be at least 2 reasons for this:

1. extra flow for exhaust and so that is the end result; or
2. extra flow causing engine to be running rich, and needs a tune.

If anyone has any suggestions am happy to hear, thanks.

I assume fumes in the cabin? More likely a leak somewhere. Take it back and take it for a drive with the owner. If he syrvives the gases he can fix it.

I found the same when I had the Genie exhaust fitted. Had it checked and no leaks, I put it down to the high-flo cat. I wonder if my Genie can answer that question...

Sorry forgot the obvious, no not in the cabin, just in the garage when you start it up.

An increase in diesel fumes emissions is normal with a high flow cat, even more so with the cat removed. There would also be a bit of a smell from the new exhaust, paint burning/baking, oily/greasy hand marks, WD40 on bolts, etc. Give a a few days and let us know how it is.

I too put a High flow cat and straight through muffler on my shorty, running a stienbauer chip too. Also getting an increase in diesel smoke, mostly when you give it a foot full though. Goes like a cut snake! (for a Prado anyway)

Yep, I noticed the same when I fitted 2 3/4" Beaudesert.

To be honest, when I first bought the Prado, you couldnt smell it was a diesel. Since the exhaust, it now smells like my old hilux surf used to.
