My 2013 150 started becoming noisy so took it in to toyota and they found injector no3 was out of spec.
They replaced it under warranty and now its even louder but only when its cold.

Im not sure why its become noisy all of a sudden at only 24000ks

Ive left the car with toyota who claim that theres nothing wrong.

If its truely noisy, It's noisy becase it sits around. Low k & no use. This is not good for diesels.
When these engines are noisy, As stated above the injectors are not working correctly. Jamming. Causing the noise, from the engine. Not always shown in diagnostics.
Always replace Injectors in sets. As usual new set of injectors will fix it if its noisy.
If you can't do 20,000k+ a year sell it & buy the petrol.

Toyota seem to think its ok when its cold. Because my injector values are all within spec, they're not concerned.
I just find it strange how it just came up out of nowhere.

My observations. The "rattle" is there during the engine warm-up phase. Due to the pre-injection scenario the ECU is performing until a predefined temperature is met. From my experience, the colder the ambient temperature is, the louder/more obvious the "rattle". I found if I just coast around in 3rd gear until I am out of my suburb the rattle is kept to a minimum and soon abated once warm. I have 270k on the clock and have had the injectors replaced once.

Thats what i thought as well, until i replaced my third set of injectors that where in spec for a new set and the cold rattle disappeared.
