I don't think there is an Eco On/Off option on the 2.8. Not that I have found, and I RTFM.

Eco switch has a placebo effect whereby your right foot is less brutal on the go pedal. You think you're doing better in the economy stakes.Dave

Yep - it's on the same button that scroll's through your Ave fuel consumption etc etc... under the dash light dimmer switch. Once you get to ECO ON, press and hold, and it goes to ECO OFF.
Reference placebo effect - I can categorically say - dead wrong. It changes the throttle response and the adjusts when the gears change. Don't just take my word for it though - go out and press the button yourself! Try it on a similar loop - it works.
The other benefit is that it gets rid of the green ECO light that kept lighting up all day/ night.

The Eco light is just a light. It has no affect on anything else. Don't believe me, turn it on and cover it up with tape so you aren't tempted to drive to it and nothing will happen.

As I suspected, even the manual just says it is a light that lets you know you are driving economically. The ODO switch (holding it in for 2 secs) is just to turn off the light function. I read somewhere that unichip can give you 2 different tunes on the 2.8 and you use the Eco button to switch between the tunes. Otherwise it's just a light in the dash.Comment
