If the dealer had any gumption he would have sourced another vehicle by now , for the aggrieved customer . Then he would sort out the shit fight with Toyota in his own time , not the customers . It wouldn't be the first time the dealer has come across a lemon .

For those playing along at home, a conference was held yesterday between technical support at TMCA and a number of technical field managers to try to work out what else it could be. I think they will want the vehicle for further examination which should trigger a replacement. I'm sick of the stress and worry and waiting! Hopefully I find out some more positive news today. I'm overseas next week so at least they will have plenty of time to source a new car (I stipulated I want one fresh off the truck that has not been cannabalised) and move all my bits across and organise tinting etc. I'll also be asking for free toyota roadside to be thrown in.
I commend you for your patience, I would have been in gaol by now.

Push for Factory Toyota Extended Care Warranty as well if you didn't have that already.

Too right kav...this is disgraceful. If the dealer is who I think it is then I'm not surprised at all.

Some technical info i have received about current troubleshooting:

“With a rapid drop in fuel pressure shown in the snap shot it could be Pressure Discharge Valve dumping fuel from the common rail hence please clamp the return line from the common rail or disconnect it to see if there is a large amount of fuel return. Clamping the return hose from the rail can rule out the possibility swarf jamming the valve open”. This we did (many times over) and has made no difference.

You need to add some of your own signage to that just before the dealers name saying" DON'T BUY A VEHICLE FROM"

I'd be asking for a lot more than just roadside assistance as compensation.

Well today I got the car back. Second replacement fuel pump and ECU appears to have done the trick.

I've asked for some extras as compensation. Car runs well and all seems fine. I went over it with a fine toothed comb before agreeing to take delivery of it. Car was detailed and had a full tank of fuel on pickup. Fingers crossed many KM of trouble free motoring awaits

At the end of the day, i'm glad to have a Prado back. Feels so much more refined than the SR5 and smoother on the road, not to mention how quiet the 2.8 is. I'll be sure to report back here if anything else related happens...

I was discussing the 2.8 Prado with a few guys from the local dealer. They say it feels ok in the Hilux but is a gutless dog in the Prado? Do you think it lacks oomph Ryan?
