Under Australian law , the dealer has to be given 2 chances to rectify the problem or give your money back or a replacement . I returned a $15 000 boat and a $6000 bed under these rules . Good luck . Get rid of the lemon while you can .03 grande v6 , with added stuff that makes it go places . RTFM people !

Dealer has replaced everything from fuel pump back to tanks, with the exception of the fuel lines which they have blown out tho. Still no luck. They have checked the towbar and bullbar harnessses also to make sure they werent causing issues - no dice. Toyota now coming out next week to dealership to have a look, after that it is most likely Toyota will say time for a new one.

I would say that 2 weeks on the op has a pretty strong case to demand a new car. This may turn out to be some tricky problem with the GD or it may be a one off. Always sucks being a guinea pig.
By the description of the problem it has nothing to do with the DPF. DPF is a pain but you have your choice DPF or pollution, I was just driving behind an old diesel patrol and was struggling to see the street through the black smoke which is what the old tech gets you. And diesel pollution is nasty cancerous stuff, ask anyone who works in an underground mine what they think about breathing diesel fumes.

Car has now been in dealership for 3 weeks. Yesterday TMCA technical field manager spent around 8 hours pulling data and checking who knows what. All this data has been sent to TMCA Melbourne for a 'brainstorming session'. We will see what comes of that. I'm hoping its word from Toyota that my replacement vehicle will be ready to pick up soon. I'll be asking for a car fresh off the truck tho, because I know that nearly all GXL's on the lot have been cannibalised for parts for my issue!

Hope you have win mate, 3 weeks is ridiculous. If they had of replaced it straight away they would be praised for their customer service but dragging it out like this just give them a bad reputation. I have told heaps of people your story and they then tell others and then more people know. Not very smart Toyota

There's a saying , a satisfied customer will tell 3 friends , a dissatisfied customer will tell 10 friends . I'm sure you're dealer doesn't want your very new model car parked out front of his dealership , with a sign saying , DONT BUY ONE OF THESE ASK ME WHY , with your phone number on it .
Worked really well for me . And there's nothing the lawyers can do if you go down that path . You haven't defamed anyone . Good luck03 grande v6 , with added stuff that makes it go places . RTFM people !

I don't understand why the consumer laws don't seem to apply to new automobiles.

I hope you have spoken to the DP so he is aware of whats happened?
It has been going on for some time now and should be resolved , we recently had a major failure in a new car that had 200 kms on the clock, we had them in a new vehicle in 2 weeks , would have been quicker if stock was available , but when i spoke to the DP about the failure we both agreed it was the right thing to do by the customer, there was no argument.2012 Graphite GXL T/D Auto, with all the normal crap you fit

For those playing along at home, a conference was held yesterday between technical support at TMCA and a number of technical field managers to try to work out what else it could be. I think they will want the vehicle for further examination which should trigger a replacement. I'm sick of the stress and worry and waiting! Hopefully I find out some more positive news today. I'm overseas next week so at least they will have plenty of time to source a new car (I stipulated I want one fresh off the truck that has not been cannabalised) and move all my bits across and organise tinting etc. I'll also be asking for free toyota roadside to be thrown in.
