And the dealership spends a lot of time getting the cheapest bulk oil they can that will/may meet the required specs. Then the tech has to make sure they use the right oil for the job they are doing (not the generic "one oil fits all"). In all honesty, get your vehicle serviced however you want using what oil you want. If you don't know and are happy to use the stealership go for it. If you want what is the best for your vehicle either trust a smaller well known mechanic or do your minor oil & filter changes yourself. Most dealerships do not use the genuine oil, almost all dealers use bulk oil supplied by Castrol, Shell of Caltex. It is delivered in a tanker truck and pumped into oil storage tanks. Very few dealers use what the manufacturer has "spent a lot of time and money on". As for warranty, you just have to prove the oil you used meets or exceeds their specification, then it is up to the manufacturer to prove cause of failure, not you.Silver 150 Facelift

That's the old oil, no longer available and had been superceeded to 08880 83327 and retails for $85.40 a drum for 4L. So the parts bill for a basic oil & filter change add up to almost $200, that's before labour using all genuine parts & fluids!Originally posted by OzDriver View PostMy dealer showed me a can of the Toyota official oil they will be using on the 2.8 engines. Photo attached. They seemed very clear on which type and why.Silver 150 Facelift

My personal advice..don't use it...you need "C2" specification oil or you WILL have a fight on your hands if you have an engine warranty claim...
Ring the caltex oil adviser............he will explain all you need to know about what is happening with Toyota oil and C2 oil etc etc...1300 364 169 Mon - Thu: 8:00am - 5:30pm (EST) Fri: 8:00am - 5:00pm (EST) Last edited by brogers; 10-09-2016, 06:52 AM.SE Qld: GX 150GD Auto, (Feb'16 build): TJM T15 steel b bar, 9,500lb TORQ winch, TJM s steps, Rhino Pioneer Platform (42102B 1928X1236mm), front recovery points, Wynnum towbar, P3 brake controller, TNN Underbody guards, UHF, TREKtable & LED striplight, Custom Fridge & Drawers, Waeco CFX50, 9inch illuminator 160W LED spots, 40mm lifted Dobinson Suspension (Zordo's), ScanguageII, 30 Sec Wing Awning

Latest Penrite Oil Recomendation
You might find this helpful...
Penrite Oil list on their guide a Enviro C2 0W30 and Enviro DL 1 5W30. Both listed as being ACEA C2 spec.
One of a few companies that have a listing available for the new Toyota DPF range like the Landcruiser Prado and Hilux
Will be interesting to see how the V8's run on a 0W30 fluid, maybe the heavier 5W30 would be more suited in Australia.
