Sitting in Karratha. Toyota suspect a cracked #4 cylinder. They are going to do a compression test on Monday. I guess that will help diagnose what other damage there is.
Just had 140k service done 3 days ago all was good. 6 months out of an extended 5 year warranty
We are towing a caravan and were plodding along at 85-90 kmh when lost power and the engine started chugging.
Last fuel was a fill from Shell at Karratha and we had done about 250 k on that tank full.
Can anyone relate to me what I should expect now from Toyota?
Costs.
Turn around.
I have heard that the cracking can be caused by dirty fuel or out of spec injector? Should I ensure I get a fuel analysis done. I have already emailed Shell with receipt details.
Should all cylinders be replaced?
Should injectors be tested or replaced? I read that in NZ each 40k the seals are checked for dripping as that can cause cylinder failure.
In case of dispute do I pay up to local Toyota and take up the issue with Toyota?
Thanks for any pointers.
