the last time I had my Prado in for the DPF smoke issue I did express my concern that my warranty was not far from expiring and asked what happens if the DPF still has issues then? The answer was that the DPF is a know issue and Toyota would take care of it even after the warranty expires. No I didn't get that I in writing but I'm not really concerned because my argument would be that the DPF failed within the warranty period and Toyota are obliged the see it fixed properly no matter how long that takes.

Let's hope so. I think this will certainly be an ongoing issue, and I would be surprised if the ECU upgrade fixes it -especially the blocking of the injection port side of the issue. The 2.8s are now coming out of warranty in large numbers, so i guess well see some test cases soon.

I'm surprised Toyota don't change the service schedule to include a clean of the DPF injector every xx thousand km if that is part of the problem.

Toyota dont work like that - they would rather wait till warranty runs out then point the finger at the owner's driving style.

          • Have any of the 1GD owners on here tried a DPF cleaner additive that goes in the fuel tank? Do they work?

For $68K drive away I got a Patrol Ti. That's only a little bit more than the price I paid for the Prado - but it comes with leather (I hate leather, it's got sheepskin on now ), DVD, Satnav with free updates, sunroof, 33" tyres, a V8... you get the picture. It's got a lot. It's a very similar spec to the LC200VX I owned before the Prado (went Prado as it's got a payload of 780-odd Kg's versus my LC200 at 610Kgs - Patrol has 785Kg). More importantly (for me) is what it doesn't have - DPF, Turbo, EGR, AdBlue etc. Just 8 cylinders putting out 298Kw and 560Nm.
                Hi CamJam,

Tried sending you a PM but of course it's not working (must be a Toyota DPF).

For $68K drive away did the Patrol Ti come with any accessories like a tow bar or anything?

Can I also ask what state you purchased it in?

                Cheers, Rimsy.

Yes, it did manual regeneration but only when car is parked. I've tried it while driving but it gave me middle finger (long number) . However, when parked and sent the command again, message displayed on car info display .. need make sure no flammable object under the car..blabla. and rev went up. Took about 10 min to complete.

Sorry - don't know how that didn't work.
Same state as you mate. Towbar, mats. Standard everything else - to VX level plus a little more. If you'd like more on the build/ car - suggest we don't add to this here and perhaps try http://www.nissanpatrol.com.au/forum...-Nissan-Patrol - I have the same handle there...

                        • I was in at Toyota getting some filters. they asked what model, I said the 3.0L D. They said "your lucky".. Why? "The new ones are nothing but trouble. We reflash the ECU knowing they will be back in a few KMs, but Toyota haven't given us any thing else to do".. I guess the parts guys were given the media training that the sales guys get.. They still tell the truth.

Imagine heading off road with one.. No thank you..

                          • I’ve now done 12500 kms in my 2018 model over the past 4 months and have had zero issues so far. My scanguage shows that it works exactly as it should. I travel about 50km to work and back each day at 100km/hr. I guess only time will tell.

Same here. No issues to date and DPF burns very rapidly now. Hopefully after 30000km I am still saying the same thing.

Hi, what did you do to your car? Did you get a 2018 spec car? My car's dpf burns every 170km now, and smoke started to appear as well.

Does anyone know what is DPF Assembly? Is DPF part of the Assembly or a separate part? Thanks

If 2018 model doesn't have the issue I'll probably have to get one.
