Hi erenbostan,
we only reverse engineered the code for a DPF burn on the new (2016 onwards) 2.8L D4D as found in the Prado/Fortuner/Hilux.

No idea what codes are used on other D4D's in the Toyota stable but I would say that randomly trying commands for other engines is really rolling the dice with your car.

Is there a Yaris forum/usergroup you could seek advice on?

Cheap IPhone OBD monitor and burn initiator - burn

Went back to the monitoring screen and watched the burn happen (note I was playing with the gauge configuration so they change in the shots below).

DPF status on the app was now reading 100%. Normally (mine is a manual) the RPM for a burn is 1200, but this held 2000 for about 2 minutes, then went back to 1200 for the rest.

You can see the temperature climb as the burn happens. Max downstream temperature was around 640 C.

Total burn time was around 10 minutes, and stopped with DPF status at 4%.



The app is glitchy (often loses the data flow/freezes, then either comes good again or I get out then get back in again). It can also log data to review later, but I haven’t played with that. It can also clear error codes.

So overall I was stoked – for $20 I had a new toy that enables me to check the DPF status (and other bits and stuff that is happening) and initiate a burn (assuming I can work out how to do it again) and clear codes if the DPF karkes it in the bush.

I’m keen to hear anyone’s experience if they go down the same route, or other IPhone apps that people recommend. Hope this helps!

Further to this, it is possible to create a Burn button for the Dashboard from the above info.
In the same Menu (Settings icon top right corner) where Terminal is, select Custom Sensors

Select + at the top to add a custom sensor

I gave it the names Burn and put the command 30 29 06 01 01 with spaces. No header required.
Then select Action PID button.

Exit back to Main Menu and select Demo ( use last used car) so you can select and then edit the Dashboard

If you have not set up your dashboard, you can double click any existing icon to edit it and add your custom sensor.
(You can customise the dashboard at the top settings icon.)

Hit the drop down in the View menu and select Action PID
Now when you select the Sensor hyperlink above, it will only offer you Action sensors that you have created. Select yours.

You will now be able to tap on the new Dashboard Text button and it begins a dpf regeneration burn.

I did the above in Park with handbrake. Part way through the burn I reversed out of the garage. The burn stopped at 50%. I hit the button again and the burn continued. Not sure yet if it works on the road whilst moving.

Hi, anyone has the scangauge XGauge codes for DPF% monitoring on 1KD-FTV (Prado 150) with DPF from year 2011. It is an Europen EURO 5 version. Thanks!
