Hi John. When you say you have changed some of your thinking, what Racor filter do you now recommend as a pre filter. A 10 micron or 2 micron?
Cheers........Wayne
Same here John because originally you suggested a 30 micron filter. What micron is the Toyota filter between the tanks and inside the engine bay?
Great post Winston. You may like to reference it in the 120 thread as well. Like you I was happy to run with a 30 micron unit but now I am confused as to what is best on my 120 series D4D

There's a couple of mistakes i.e. "checking for air leaks" when I should have said fuel leaks but I think people should get the jist. I was going to do a video on replacing the front strut lower bushes but didn't get a chance. Any one can do it except you need to press out the old bushes and press in the new ones. I had to get a mate to do that for me.
Hi, I'm with you Roo .In this thread I have put a RACOR 460 just to make sure the flow rate doesn't get affected too much .The 460 takes quite a lot of room as I had to make my own mounting .Yes I do use the 10 micron pre Toyota 2 micron and I would recommend everyone to do something similar especially if you are going bush .Cheers foxy
hi i have just had water watch fitted, might be expensive but if it stops water rusting and destroying injectors and common rail then its not that dear. Will post photos of fit later

Correct me if im wrong,
but if water gets into the injectors doesnt that mean water gets into the block and then the whole motor is cactus?
It's funny after reading about the water traps for a couple of weeks last tuesday a mate was traveling to emerald and got a batch of bad fuel and ended up on the side of the road with the water light on, no phone reception & no idea of how to sort it out, so he had to drive into the next town so he could ring the mechanic and ask what to do. Now he's just hoping he hasn't killed another set of injectors as he's already replaced one set due to the dodgey toyo injectors in his hilux.
Getting my extra filter/water trap fitted today along with the trans oil cooler.
I have a 2012 Prado turbo diesel. I am heading over to the USA in a couple of months time. I keep reading and re-reading this thread and have decided to fit the additional Racor filter. I will buy over there, as there appears to be a significant price difference, compared to Australia.
There have been quite a few model numbers given by those who have fitted the filter, or who are looking at fitting one at a later date. What is the consensus of those who have both fitted or are considering the fitting of an additional filter. Then of course there is the micron factor to decide on.
I picked up my car this arvo after having the trans oil cooler and extra fuel filter/water trap fitted, very happy with the quality of work and fitment. and happy with the extra peace of mind as well.
I have been in contact with a Raco agent in Chicago, who has in turn contacted Raco for advice on the best fuel/water filter for the Prado. Raco's recommendation was a 245R10, however, the 230R would suffice. I can get the 230R for $106 USD plus tax. To get the 245R10 I have to order a minimum of six at $116 USD. Replacable filters are $23 USD.
Thanks for your comment Roo. I will be going with the 230R10 simply because of the availability of the screw on filters in this country, although I will be bringing quite a few back with me.
Thanks Bert.
I used SAE 30R7 (standard hose) when installing my extra filter.
My Father in Law is a Gates distributer, so I will get a bit of SAE 30R9 hose from him, to replace the lesser hose.
Thanks again.
Steve
Can anyone tell me where you can get R9 Fuel Injection hose in Australia.
Enzed/ Parker seem to know nothing about it.
Cheers

So....
Undecided between a racor 230 filter or the fuel manager kit as sold by diesel care. Almost $100 more for the kit from diesel care but it is a full kit with bracket and hose etc, so all up would cost similar $ however would be an easier fit. Wondering what others think of these kits, which one and why?
Diesel care also said they would run it as a secondary filter in 2 micron set up, that is what they recommend and fit, however I was thinking running as a pre filter, which set up would you do and why?
