I had these things installed for mates rates so I don't know how much are RRPs.

The genie was a tad louder at idle and on full throttle. It has nice note and nil resonance during cruise.

Troy from Tunit had the car on the dyno and gave it a few minor tweaks. We saw probably around 20% gain in torque at ~2000rpm. However it was very hard to capture that on the dyno due to automatic gearbox. On paper we had around 18% gain from around 2500rpms. If you have a Genie exhaust then it's best to get the Tunit since Troy has this map.

The Tunit and exhaust gave it a bit more grunt for take off and overtaking. It's more pleasurable to drive but it's no where near the twin turbo v8 in the 200 series ops:

The fuel efficiency is excellent and overall it's well worth the extra cost.

I'v had the machine for 3 days, the cruise computer said I had a range of 15km left so I filled the tank up, it only took 128lts, started to bubble couldn't get any more in, fuel gauge shows full, has anybody actually got more into the tank or is the range not reliable at this level.
PS what a great 4wd and very economical

said i had 30kms the other day, filled the tanks and only put in 130 litres. - i've had the car for 5000kms.

3000k's now and returning 9.5L/100Km Mixed city, highway and very ordinary bush track. Had to laugh, the wife headed off to the coast, Brown Mountain was closed, rang me for directions, sent her thru Bombala, apparently GPS was set on fastest route, took her bush in six inch deep clay for 42kms. Good to know it runs economically just poking along at 30Kmh also ;^)

The Wife is not a 4wd'er, and still has reservations about changing from Subaru previously, so her trip was not by choice.

Just had occasion to put 900K's on in a couple of days. Speed limit driving, 1st half mostly on Cruise control, Canberra to Wollongong to Bemagui down the coast road and back to Canberra via Brown Mountain, and a bit of running around in between. The display on the dash says 8.6l/100Km. Will do a lie detector on it when I fuel up on Friday before we leave for Qld. Of note, for the first half it reported as low as 8.2 before I got off the freeway. Only me and a bag in it though.

Hi All, just clocked up 16,000km in my D4D Kakadu. Overall economy 9.1/l per 100km. Have done a mix of highway and around town driving. On highway trips, consistantly getting 8.7/l per, this is confirmed by the trip computer (since refill) and manually working it out at the pump. Very Happy.

I have a manual GX Diesel. Only just kicked over 1k and most of the driving has been around town and short trips. Average 10.6l/100 reasonably happy with that considering I was getting 15l/100 out of of my Suzuki Grand Vitara V6 around town.

the wife took the gxl out to work a few days last week. freeway driving,in sydney's peak hour traffic she was getting low 9's. i get back in and drive it my way - i'm slowing pushign it back up over 10.. i hate that.

Hi there

We have 2 GXL Turbo Diesel Autos

Car 1 - 6000klm - averaging 8.9 L. Does get as low as 6.1 on Eastlink...........if only all roads were that smooth and flat! :-) Power definitely coming up along with responsiveness

Car 2 - 1500 klm - averaging 9.2. Will come down after around tank 4 I have noticed.

As for others comments about the DTE being incorrect I have to agree. Twice it has shown only 80klm range left but only taken around 115 - 120 lt to fill the tank.

Overall I'm extremely happy with the cars and cant wait to get them into the dirt.

I'm getting 11.9l/100k BUT I have added roof rack, ARB bar and lifted 2" . what impact have any of you had with these additions as I still think this is still too high. Half of my driving is freeway at 90-100 k's using cruise control but the other half is stop start in peal hour. On a country run at average 100k's it down to 11.3L/100K.

does seem a bit high, even cruising on a genuine gps confirmed 115, about 120 indicated and with around town stuff I get 10. Are your BFG same as oem size ?
Reset the computer thingo next time you cruise hwy only and see what you get.

Slightly taller tyres, extra weight like second battery, black widow draws with stuff in them, roof rack and bar added about 200KG and 1.5l/100km to the Jackaroo.

On a recent trip to Hervey bay mine averaged 12Ltr per 100K sitting on 100KMH and pulling a Jayco Campa.

I also have a lot of heavy accessories fitted including a winch so thought this was pretty good.

Thanks Leighw and Maxjj,

I'm doing the WA mud run on the weekend. I will test usage on the trip too and from and see what i get. The BFG's may have a higher profile and the GPS does show that i'm travelling up to 5 k's slower than the speedo is displaying, so there may be an element of inconsistent measurement of distance.

Hi Fellas. I am seeing some pretty mean fuel consumption figures on this page. The Toyota trip computers are notoriously inaccurate for fuel figures. My father-In-Law brought a new Sportivo and his was around 8% out on a long trip. The dealer stated that they (Toyota) were comfortable with anything under 10% and the fuel computer was only a rough indication. I think this is pure B_____llS___t. The only way to get accurate fuel figures is to fill the tank(s) to the brim yourself, (take the time to do this completely - not just the first glug) set the trip meter, run the car/Prado to the orange light and fill again. Do the math and compare with the fuel computer - have a reality check! You may be shocked. Cheers, Derb.

Hi guys,

My 150 GXL T/Diesel auto Wagon has just rolled over 5000kms. Around town, I can't get the trip computer below 13ltrs/100kms. Highway work is good - 8s and 9ltrs/100km.

Towing the van however is a shocker. 2 tonne of 20ft Coromal and it is using between 17ltrs/100kms and 19ltrs/100km. It's actually using less fuel towing at 95-100kms per hour as it can get itself into 5th gear and cruise. Otherwise, it's sitting between 4th and 5th (approx 2400rpm) and using heaps of fuel.....and I haven't added a bull bar and/or suspension yet...only done Coopers ATRs and a snorkel.

It'll probably get better fuel economy as the kms roll by....it had better get better - it's still no where near as good as the 120 series D4-D I had previously. In fact, I'm yet to be convinced the new toy is better than the old 120 series full stop. Maybe after the added extras are all fitted, I might think differently.
