    • After 17000km overall consumption (according to computer) is 10.1 ltr/100km with mostly city driving and some country outings. Car is stock and tyre pressure is 40psi all round. I reckon the computer to be about 1 - 1.5 ltr/100km out based on km travelled vs total fuel added each fill.

Appart from a copuple of annoying (well known) issues, very happy.

      • I have just clocked up 5000km (one month old), and get about 8.8l/100km on the run to and from work (hwy runs ave speeds 60 - 80kmhr). On country runs I notice a step up to around 11 - 12 l/100km as soon as approach 110 +km/hr. Under 105km/hr the consumption remains sub 10. I have noticed it seems to improve with each tank – looking forward to when the DSL fully loosens up.
At least it’s a lot better than my Mazda CX-7 it drinks 13 - 14l/100km of Premium ULP

I am running standard tyres (factory pressure (32psi) at moment - may up to 38psi shortly), ARB Bull Bar, Safari Snorkel

        • I agree with dnioz, up the speed up the fuel,I have just had a quick 800km trip sitting between 120 and 130 and the GXL drank around 11 L/100 km that said closer to 100 kph I am only getting 9.8L/100kph. My best ever was first drive and it was 7.8 L/100 but never again. My GXL has 14000km on the clock and all has been highway and off road work.

My previous 120 series was way better on fuel averaging 9.5 L /100 km at similar speeds of 100-130

            • Just did 1091km of mixed bitumen and dirt roads, loaded with camping gear for two. GXL auto, 694's standard size, steinbauer, lifted, but no roof rack.
Drive like nana, and not much over 100 on bitumen. 100.9l from the pump, brim full. That,s 9.25l/100. Pretty sure my odo actually under reads a few percent, so true economy may even be better.
BTW, the dash readout also said 9.2l/100.

              • Hi,

Still trying to figure out the mileage on our new Stock Std except for Toyota Towbar & my own Dual Batt setup, 150 GXL T/D Auto. First refill was a bit of a worry, but don't know how full they filled the tank at purchase. Had 6km on the clock, I think I put most of them on it, taking it for a bit of quick test drive to convince SWMBO. Veh has done just over 4300km so still along way to go before I think it will settle down. 1st refill I had a bit of trouble trying to overcome the dreaded gurgle, so I'm not real concerned. My mileage is based on actual litres and reading from Trip 1, which I always reset at each fuel up, I plan to use Trip 2 for long extended trips covering multiple refuels. In dash readout regularily shows 8.4 to 9.0 but my travel is mostly 40 to 120km round trips, with very little City Driving so far.

                1st refill 939km - 123.63lt - 13.22lt per 100km
                2nd refill 1876km - 99.56lt - 10.63lt per 100km
                3rd refill 2536km - 66.50lt - 10.08lt per 100km
                4th refill 3774km - 114.02lt - 9.21lt per 100km

                • Hi everybody from Italy, just arrived in this forum!

I own a Prado LC150, Diesel 190CV, and about fuel consumption I would need your suggestions.
After 16.000 KM, my experience is not very positive, and sincerely I am a bit disappointed.

My fuel consumption range is 8,10Km/l, that means an authonomy of 704,00 Km.
But it seems that the worst i happens in the motorway: 7,68 Km/l, driving at 120/130 Km/h with the cruise control
Just to add some detail more, my driving style is very calm, not fast accelerations, low speeds, nothing on the roof, no heavy accessories, and usually motorways. The only thing is the air con on

Now this high consumptions seems very strange, the dealer checked and told me that is normal....but the consumption should be between 10-13Km/l.

In Italy still there are not so many Prado 190CV, so I really would appreciate your suggestions, thanks!

                  Piero

                    • Hi Cruiser,
I have lost a bit in the translation of your english, but you think 120/130kmh is driving slow? Above 100, they will always use a lot more fuel because of poor aerodynamics.
Remember we have 150l of fuel capacity, with the spare tyre on the rear door. You will never achieve what Toyota advertise. Think they test them all downhill!
You got standard tyres? Pressure around 40psi? Plus, hills will kill consumption. Italy is VERY hilly, right?

                      • I have just checked my last economy (lack of) 1206km - 140 litres exactly = 11.6l per 100km. The tank before was 12.75L per 100km these are driving mostly at 115km/h open roads.
I find with the manual i could get around 8L per 100km easy if i lived in suburbia doing 60-80 everywhere.

                        • Just back from a lap round the country mainly towing my 16 ft pop top caravan (20084km). Based on actual fuel dockets we averaged 14.21 litres per 100km, pretty happy with that. Both Scanguage and dash guage are not particularly accurate I found. Speedo is generally out by 10% in the first place compared with gps, this will effect the dash figures. Fuel quantities are also out based on non calibrated fuel bowsers (my travelling companion put 111lt in a 110lt tank at one stop), scanguage recieving inputs from not very accurate car inputs and car inputs to dash gauges similarly inaccurate.
                          Cheers Mike

                          • VH,

don't forget that your tank may be 110 litres, but if you filled it to the brim, fuel is also going to be in your fuel tank pipe which can make up 4-5 litres!

I know I have to adjust the % error/factor again when I tow and then re-adjust it back again when not towing the van. When towing the van, the fuel % adjustment figure is around 35% & when not towing it increases up to 44%. With these % entered, the scangauge is almost 100% accurate when I'm refuelling the Prado...... plus I do fill the tanks until I see the fuel at the top of the filler

                              • Macca, I have similar experiences but they are never always consistant. One of the things I find the most influence is which petrol station you use. If I use my local then I can get consistant figures all the time with the scangauge however when travelling around the country the figures quite often vary and I put this down to the calibration of the pumps at the station. I fill until the pump stops the second time. I don't fill the deisel until I can see it in the pipe so as to leave room for foaming. As I said this method gives consistant figures at my local but does vary when out bush.

Lorenzo, trust me, the vehicle did not take 111 litres, nor would it fit 111lt if we wanted to put that much in.
