I am seeking information as to what the micron rating is for a OEM Toyota fuel filter in the 150 Prado?

Donaldson filters make an OE replacement for their 4wd service kits. The specs state the P550385 filter is 12 micron.

I had a 2 micron filter in my 4wd but was told to swap it for a 30 because the thinking was it was too restrictive, meaning if it got blocked I would be in worse trouble? I currently have the 30 micron. Very confusing topic.

I have a 5 micron, CAT filter before the factory filter. It separates water, no warning system. So beyond that if the factory filter is 5 Micron or more it should be doing no work at all. It just acts a water alarm from where it sits in the worst case scenario. Any less than 5 Micron could be little harsh. It also depends on what your fuel source is too, I am in a larger city so mostly okish quality, heard there are some bad stories as you move to the wider landscape.

It claims 10 microns. Not sure why you would but a smaller or equal micron filter before the OEM. It makes sense to “step down” the filter process - but that has been covered with various schools of thought either Pre/Post.

Can anyone vouch for the micron size in the Prado OEM filter as the above claim from Toyota could be generic and not specific to the Prado

on the 1GD , i was told that the factory replaceable filter is 10 micron , but the non serviceable filter on the block is down to 2 micron. ive no written proof of that but it makes sense

To get an idea of how good a filter is you need to know it's micron rating and efficiency. A 10 micron filter may only be 85% efficient so 15% of all particles 10 micron or larger will still pass through.
