Manual DPF burn switch

im hoping there is a pin on the ECU all ready for this feature and you just add a connector and a switch.

It should be something related to software, an ECU update and a portable switch button connect to OBD port will be a great choice. But the thing is, my friends, all are using different kind of OBD tool. All of them can have a force regen. It doesn't look like a rocket science I reckon.

Can someone please tell me how the manual DPF burn button is supposed to work...I mean, when will you know to use it? Will a light come on in the dashboard indicating that the DPF is blocked? If so, I'm pretty sure, Toyota can program the ECU to do a burn once that light goes on ( I guess that's how it's supposed to work currently)....Or are you to guess when a burn is needed?

Pretty sure it will do auto burns as it does now but there will be a DPF full light on the dash. When this light comes on you have the ability to do a manual burn with the button.

Toyota Australia is sending this letter to inform of a Customer Service Exercise involving youT Toyota
Hilux.
Due to inappropriate Diesel Particulate Filter (DPF) Automatic regeneration control by the Engine
Control Module (ECM), exhaust hard deposits can accumulate at the front portion of the DPF oxidation
catalyst, causing the heating performance of the catalyst to degrade.
If the above situation occurs, white smoke may be discharged during DPF Automatic regeneration or
the driver may experience the Malfunction Indicator Lamp (MIL)illuminate in the dashboard
instrument cluster.

Accordingly, we request that you contact your preferred Toyota dealer to schedule an appointment to
have, free of charge the ECM software upgraded and a DPF system inspection performed. This exercise
will take approximately 1 to 2.5 hours, however if the DPF system parts are deemed unserviceable,
additional time may be required to allow replacement. Depending on youT preferred Toyota dealer's
woik schedule, it may be necessary to reschedule your vehicle for a longer period.
In addition, a new feature has been made available called'DPF custom mode'which visually indicates t(
the driver every time an Automatic regeneration is in progress. This indication is by meams of a
message or mumination of the DPF lamp.'Custom mode'can be enabled free of charge by the dealer a
the owner's request at the time of booking.

Finally, ouT records indicate that your vehicle may benefit from installing a DPF MaTtual regeneration
switch. This switch will allow the driver to perform a regeneration cycle when it cannot be performed
automatically by the vehicle's ECM. The installation of this switch will be frree of charge and take an
additional 1 hour. please see attached DPF Leaflet for further information.

I've got a manual burn button installed on my Jan 2018 build VX yesterday after dealer obtained permit from Toyota. A bit sad, because I was going to put some usb ports into that slot, now I have only one little square slot left there. It's been done under warranty, so free of charge.

Hmm. I just got the letter from Mr T today re. the update to the DPF .[May 2016 build]. There is NO mention of the switch option. I have a copy of the letter for a very similar vintage car [within 2 weeks] which does mention the free switch. This particular car starred as one of the very early DPF failures on this forum and later had a DPF replaced. Mine has had no issues at 30000km and 2 updates. My question is are they only fitting switches to cars with a history of DPF problems? My problem is that my car goes into very remote areas where being towed to the nearest Toyota dealer is not an option. "Fit for purpose" as per Trade Practises Act? So why do some get a switch and others don't????
