Changing engine oils with a hoist and other workshop equipment should be effortless, and the rest of the service is mainly checks to brake pad thickness, seat belts and lights, wipers and balancing the front wheels. Probably over tighten the lug nuts when refitting the wheels. Wash and vac. Maybe they check the transfer and diff oil levels, brake fluid and power steering fluids.
$500 to 600 for all that when outside the Advantage Service period.
I bet they don't plug in the Intellitester to check for codes or even blow out the dust from the air filters.

I just bought a 150 face lifted model and the services are $210 fixed? 7 litres of oil, a filter, someone to take my call when I book it in, someone to meet me in the driveway so I don't wait around long, pay for all the equipment required, hoists etc, workers comp, waiting rooms, the list goes on, go through the bill with me afterwards and take my money, all for $210. We've got guys on here complaining that a filter for there upwards of 60k car is $30 bucks and thats too dear - WTF. We complain about the services being expensive then we complain that they didn't do a good job and they didn't stick a camera up its plug, then we just complain for the sake of it. I don't know about you but if someone offered me $210 bucks to do the oil change and buy the oil and filter and do it in my driveway and then give them a guarantee i'd tell them to bugger off!2010 Kakadu. I saw Ryco Z418's for under $10 in Supercheap, so I grabbed a few for the future.
I use Penrite Enviro+ 5W-40 full synthetic and dump it every 5,000klm. Sure, it is expensive but the Prado 150 runs great with it in. What I save in dealership labor I can justify the higher cost.
I usually let the oil drain overnight if I can, but remove the filter the next day as it has drained out too and I get no drips that way. I don't change the sump plug washer every service. I measure out 7L, fill it up and never have to add any more after that.

Got it done the other day, after exactly 5,200km. Bought a cheap oil filter wrench. Worked a treat. Filled in 7.5 litres of Penrite 5W40. Was a bit much, actually prob 0.5 over the top mark on the dip stick. It runs noticeably smoother when cold. Had Castrol 15W40 in there (changed by Toyota)2010 Kakadu. Thread dig I know but helped with my first D4D oil change, used to LS V8 commodores. Nice not to jack up car for once.
Can't believe how dirty the oil is, first change at 3500km(Toyota 6month) and now at 8750 it's black as, would have thought being so new it would have some colour.
Every 5000km for me now

Have just clocked up 2000km since my last oil change.
Still looks clean and golden.
I have a 6mm plate fitted in the egr so the black stuff goes out of the exhaust not into the cylinders. Before fitting the plate it soon went black. Car now has 160000 kms
Cheers
