  • Acceleration hesitation V6 150 ?

Ive noticed with my car of late when I go to accelerate from a standstill say pulling out of my car park at work I go to accelerate lightly to take off and there is a flat spot then the car lurches' off its like there is a dead spot on initial acceleration? anyone had this?

Mine does the same Kakadaz, I assume yours is auto also. It seems to happen more often if I sit at the lights at put it into neutral and then when I return to drive to take off there is the delay from when I accelerate. I have not had it checked out todate but you are not alone.

Mate sounds like you got the (turbo) diesel not the petrol, lift the bonnet to be sure...

Mine is the same from a standing start (auto), but not much delay at all. On a country road with a few revs up, there is no delay.

Then again, it's not like the old Ford and Holden V8's, where just a touch of the right foot tried to push you into the back seat.

Yep, mine is doing the same. I noticed that after using the sports mode for a couple of days and then changing it to normal drive position. Maybe the computer adapts to the way we drive and tries to downshift and hence the hesitation???

It only seems to be from a stop and when using part throttle eg:car parks etc. normal driving off from traffic lights etc where more throttle is involved its OK.

Interesting little gadget. The problem I do have feels like a drive by wire delay.

I have heard of a similar problem on the 150 series V6, apparently it's worse if you accelerate from a standing start, then back off slightly and try to accelerate again. Didn't Toyota have a solution that involved something like a flash of the ECU?

I would say a ECU flash should sort it out I will get that done hopefully next service. My air filter is rather dirty as well so getting that changed may also help a bit.
