  • 150 GXL fuel tanks

Hi everyone, I thought 150 series only had one fuel tank and that it was smaller than in the 120 series. A few of the guys were crawling around under the car at work the other day and noticed that there's two.

Does anyone know the sizes of these two tanks and I assume it gravity feeds from to the other.

    Cheers

It does have two tanks, but they act as one tank, in that one feeds to the other, unlike the previous models, where you selected which tank to use. you could also choose which tank you used to fill, whereas now, it only has one filler tube. i think the tank sizes are 83 and 67? but I may be confused and wrong.

The 90 series were selectable and filled seperatly, the 120 acts as a single tank. Not all 150's have the 2 tanks though, only the 5 door has both, the 3 door only has the 1 tank. Total capacity for the 150 series is appropriately 150lts.

              Hi Folks

Not sure of you have noticed this yet, but when the guage and trip computer show empty, the most I have been able to fit in is 125lts, therefore at my current usage there is about a 150-200km reserve hiding in there.

              Regards, Richo.

                Hi Richo,

I reset my tripmeter when it tells me I have 0km to empty and travel at least 50km (I stretch this to 100km on the hwy) and still only put 145 litres in. This is the petrol not the diesel.

                Regards,

                Macca

Richo, I have not gone that low yet as i usually refill at half a tank (cheaper) but from what I have read the actual reserve (needle says empty) is rather huge possibly more than 20ltrs

From what I read somewhere else on this forum the fuel is circulated through both tanks continuously and there is a cooler in there somewhere, that system in itself would use up some fuel. Most I have ever put in is 141ltr, be interesting if anyone ever put more in.
stepped up the a 200 LC for towing,
but had a 2012 and 2010 150 Prado GXL auto diesel in Graphite with Bridgestone D697 A/T. Dobinson C59-300/325 and Bilsteins. Accessories : two baby seats. Sidewinder`s Dual Battery isolator and rear power outlet kit. Pirana Battery tray, Hayman Reese towbar with Toyota wiring kit and Brains`s guard.

137ltr's of diesel put in tonight, computer says 0km left about 40km ago. Going on this there could probably be 150km in reserve.

Someone pushed it to empty and got 175km, but that would be on flat ground. Push it on a hill and you could be pushing the car up the hill instead of your luck.

There should be 22ltr's when the fuel light comes on. The scangauge backs this up. So @ 10L/100 you should be able to do 220kms. I have done about 200kms from when the light come on and scangauge said i had 4 Lts left. I try not to get that low.(servo was shut on the way home one night, so it was steady driving)

I waited until my light came on recently, drove about another 50 Kms to the next fuel station (yes I did have a Jerry on board)....and put in 139 Litres.....so I don't know if it has a hell of buffer or about 10 litres you can't use...hope not am doing the Simmo in July and am banking on having at least 145 to use with a Jerry to give me a buffer, that's say 165 and they say the average is about 137 for a 3 litre diesel.
