  • 3rd row seat removal

I'm wondering if it is possible to remove the 3rd row seats in my 150 Prado and if there would be enough room to store my recovery gear in by making a false floor. That way I can still use the back for the day to day things that get put in there.

Has anyone done this or is it easier to put drawers in. The only thing with this is that I quite often need the 2nd row seats laid down so I can sleep in the back etc.

This has been covered in another thread, but yes you can remove the 3rd row seats & you gain about 8 inches extra room & lose about 47 kg.

I did search but couldn't find anything about removing them from the 150 only the 120, but I'll look again

There was, but I couldn't find it either. It had a link to a toyota site where you could get some diagrams (no instructions though) of the steps that you take.
It still took a bit of looking & scratching the head but I got there in the end.

But try this link, there is some instructions there.

        It's not too hard really.
        Good luck

The tip on the rubber matting is a good one!
I use the interlocking rubber mats that you can buy in any camping store.

ABR Sidewinder covered this in one of his posts. I think it was his build post.

            Cheers

Since the Forum upgrade the search engine is stuffed. This has been pointed out along with a number of other issues with this firum. Speaking to quite a few people I know they find this forum now something they tend not to look at. An alternative is to search using Google

enter your search criteria as: site:www.pradopoint.com <search words>

              eg

site:www.pradopoint.com removal of rear seats 150

              This will give you
              http://www.google.com.au/search?sour...rear+seats+150

In there there a number of links that help with the information you are after

              http://www.pradopoint.com/showthread...0-rear-drawers

In the second past there is a lissted posted the following:
              http://www.toyota-tech.eu/Aim.aspx?menuitem=2
Click on the search AIM botton, then "Vehcile" click LC150, "Catagory" intallation manual, then "Accessory Group" down to Towing Hitch wiring Kit, then just pick the top one. This shows the info on pulling out the rear seats. Pics of the drawers bolted in below

And when these useless seats are gone, it should look like this. Very easy job even though the process desciribed in that doc sounds worse.
Probably helped that I installed the rear wiring from SideWinder and the Toyota towbar first, which required parts of the 3rd row to be removed first.

All that being said, do you think it is possible, or how hard would it be, to put a false floor in to gain the extra 8 inches for my recovery gear. This way I can still lay the 2nd row seats down and sleep in the back if I need to whilst camping.

                      Dreamon,

We had our third row of seats removed and had Black Widow drawers fitted, so yes they can be removed. From what we can see with the seats totally removed the metal is visible (not with the drawers though).

                      Cheers,
                      Bruce and Di

                        3rd Row Seats Removal

Are the 3rd row seats easy to remove in a 150 series GXL Prado?
