Cheers mate. Certainly looks like a debacle... When I spoke to the dealer he said there was a shipment coming in in around 6 weeks time but they are all spoken for. Not sure if that has been mentioned in the thread.

I guess the only thing I can do is make the order and pray that it arrives before Christmas.

        Keencdk,

Does that mean you have a false floor when you have removed the seats, and could I store some of my recovery equipment there

The car is good around town getting around 9.5-10L/100km driven daily in stop start traffic, about the same as the Honda CRV we used to drive in peak hour.

It may be a little rolly, but overall it is pretty car like on the road

My partner has never driven a 4wd before and drives it to and from work on a daily basis, and apart from the longer and wider vehicle being a bit more difficult to park than her old Honda CRV she loves it.

Space wise, I removed the third row seats and built a floor out of ply and carpet. It bolts in using the 3rd row seats and gives you a whole chunk more room. It takes me about 10 minutes to swap from 3rd row seat to ply floor, and the same the other way.

The reversing camera screen is only 3.5" or so, and the lens in the camera is a fish eye style so it is useful for seeing if you are going to run over kids and pets, but I still find reversing with the mirrors and/or head out windo to be more effective.

Since getting it we have been on a circuit from Brisbane to Mt Isa, West Mcdonnel ranges, Kings Canyon, Ayers Rock, Dalhousie, travelled part of the French line, Oodnadatta Track, Birdsville track, a short run in the Simpson Dessert from Birdsville to Eyre Creek, cruised up big red. Plus camping at Bribie Island and the car has never looked like getting stuck even with the missus driving and she had never driven a 4wd before.

Ours has stock suspension, no bullbar etc etc and is great. The only thing we changed was putting on after market alloys with Yokahama All Terrain tyres in the same size as the factory wheels and tyres to get a bit more of a rugged tyre.

Overall brilliant car replacement for around town and top 4wd for off road as well. Only issues we have had is we have done 2 windscreens but that is the nature of driving on lots of gravel roads and a bit of bad luck.

          Dreamon

I have a Black Widow drawer system in my 150 (seats gonesky) and when you pull out the drawers there is an area of about 50mm under there, I use it to store the jumper leads, electrical spare parts kit, maps I'm not using for the next couple of days and other stuff.

See ya on the tracks, Richo.

            Hi Dreamon,

When I pulled out the third row seats there is just the steel floor with wiring running across it, so to minimise damage to wiring I cut a sheet of ply to size and carpetted it. I bolted it down using some of the existing seat bolt holes with longer bolts, and made up a number of short legs out of offcuts of ply to spread the load across the sheet of ply. Because of the shape of the floor there would be a bit of room under there for recovery gear if you wanted, but you would have the same issue of it being in there with the wiring.

When loaded up I like to have my recovery gear as accessible as possible, so it goes in my storage unit. It is amazing how much extra room you get when you remove the seats.

                Hi,

First post on PP. Have ordered my Prado in August and was told it will be a November build with a December delivery. After reading the delivery thread am a bit sceptical.

Does anyone know for sure that the newer models will be a facelift version and what will be different in these new builds? Spoke to my dealer today and he had no idea about it.

                Cheers,
                Jim.
