  • ECU 'flash' for UK 150 Land Cruiser - thanks to you guys ..... and more....

There is no such thing as a 'prado' in the UK (as you probably know) ... they are Land Cruisers - end of.

Having experienced the 'hesitation' and mud flaps issue, I thought I would print out some of your comments and photos and present them to my UK main dealer.....expecting the response (which I got) - if they aren't approved as a UK fix theres nothing we can do....

Amazingly they took note - actually read your comments - and woe and behold they tracked down the ECU update and have allegedly done it..... I have an invoice to show its been done - but not taken it out properly to check if its better yet.

AND they've ordered the new mud flaps for me..... whether it will be done under warranty is another issue which they are not sure about - but of course I will fight it as originals 'not fit for purpose' etc etc - but thanks again 'fig' as I'm pretty sure the ECU update would not have been done without you!!

Its amazing how much effort one has to go to get things done - even after spending £35,000 on the Land Cruiser and another £16,500 on an 1 year old Auris Hybrid for the missus last week ...... from the same dealer obviously....so despite spending around £50,000 with this dealer over the past two years they will still quibble over replacement mud flaps.

My son - who is a manager at Lexus says its irrelevant how much you've spent .....every dept. has its budgets to follow.....

But I know none of this would have been achieved without your comments - mainly because there are just not enough units here in the UK. Most seem to go for the Land Rover of which there are many....

    Still - a result I'm happy with to date.....so thanks again... )

I meant thanks 'riv' .....not 'fig' - confusing you with someone on the UK forum...

Took it out for a 'spin' and I must say it does feel a bit different - a bit more responsive to the throttle maybe - but I've not yet taken it to the roundabout with an immediate incline afterwards where it used to 'hesitate' big time....

So... early days ..... but pleased so far )...

As I stated in the 2400rpm flat spot thread, the only slight negative I have found is a tendancy to hold 4th a bit to long under acceleration occasionally but as time goes by this seems to be improving. Possibly the so called 'adaptive learning' function or whatever is working.
